BAWSS – Borneo Animal Welfare Society, Sabah
KIS is committed to building positive relationships within our wider community and is proud of the caring nature of our children, supporting a range of environmental and wildlife charities and projects. Following student concerns regarding the condition of the stray dogs around the school’s environment, we also support the Borneo Animal Welfare Society, Sabah (BAWSS), which is a non-profit organization funded through charitable means.
The main objective of BAWSS is to advocate for the welfare of animals, specifically cats and dogs, in Borneo. To help control the stray dog and cat population in Kota Kinabalu, they trap, neuter and return dogs and cats to the areas where they were found. Neutered animals are less likely to engage in aggressive activity associated with “mating seasons” and are also likely to maintain a better physical condition than non-neutered animals as a result. BAWSS also supports the rehabilitation, fostering and adoption of strays.

In partnership with BAWSS, KIS hope to develop a long-term solution to the ongoing problem of sick/injured stray dogs around our school, improve the welfare of these animals generally and prevent/minimize any increase in their numbers.
To support the future work of BAWSS in Kota Kinabalu, KIS will hold stalls at our school fairs, to raise awareness and fundraise for the charity. Please look out for our stall on the 28th March, during the School Fun Day. If you wish to donate a tin of dog or cat food, we will have a collection box and happily pass it on.
Thank you in advance for your support.
