U15 FOBISIA Games Futsal Friendlies vs SMK St Francis and JIS

Over the last week the U15 FOBISIA squad have had the opportunity to hone their football skills in friendly matches against SMK St Francis with the girls, and Jesselton International School for the boys.

Last Friday, the girls played out a 1-1 draw in a close match against St Francis. Margot scored for the Vipers very early on in the match and whilst there was a lot of pressure exerted by Freya and Margot up front, another goal couldn’t be found.

It was only late in the match that St Francis managed to find an equaliser after some very consistent defending from Leya, Alexis and Adriana.

The player of the match award goes to Chloe, who in her very first competitive football match showed confidence and composure in stopping many a shot from St Francis.

Thank you to Angelina, Tiggy, Roshween and Celeste as well for supporting the U15 Girls.

On Wednesday, the boys team faced off against Jesselton in their first official match as a squad. The team has slowly been building confidence in training and many were excited to have the opportunity to test their skills against an unknown opposition.

There were some very positive signs from the boys as they moved the ball around the court well with Guy directing play from the back. Romain and Gregoire combined well and Marc showed some skills on and off the ball. Ian and Haziq put a lot of pressure on the Jesselton defence with Haziq showing his speed and agility when taking on defenders..

A goal from Romain quite early in the match boosted confidence and Haziq showed his speed and agility running at the defence to cause problems.

In the second half, despite a few free kicks and some good passing combinations spreading the ball around the court another goal couldn’t be found but instead it was Jesselton who equalised. Then sadly a very late opportunity for Jesselton resulted in them finding the net a second time to take the match 2-1.

Despite the result not being what the team would have hoped for, it was a great opportunity for all players to get some time on the ball in a competitive match prior to leaving for Phuket.
