From the Principal 07.09.2019
Dear KIS Community,
Another long weekend is upon us and I hope you can make the most of the extra time. We understand the impact of three Mondays lost in a row and we will be addressing this in the coming weeks. More information will be sent to you, so please do check your emails from time to time.
Everyone is back into their school routines, trips are taking place, ECA’s are about to begin and planning for the year ahead continues. We are currently in review mode as we prepare for a visit from CIS (Council of International Schools). Our visitors, Dr Eric Jabal and Mr John Todd, who are both experienced educators, will be here for about a week in October to support us as we move forward with re-accreditation. They will meet with students, staff and parents (including the Board and PTA) as well as observe classes in action. We look forward to their visit and will update you as we get closer to their arrival.
A warm welcome to the many new students and families this past week. I’d like to invite all of our new families and indeed all of our existing families to our first coffee morning (Drop Off & Drop In) on Wednesday 18th September starting at 8am (not to be confused with the Primary Coffee Morning next week). It will be an opportunity to highlight the year ahead and answer any questions you may have. At 9am we will be hosting visit from KPJ who will be delivering health talks for our parents on hypertension and hand hygiene. This will last approximately an hour and will be in the MPR room straight after the Coffee Morning.
I am pleased to inform you that our School Counsellor (Ms Siti) is now in school and settling in very well, we will introduce Ms Siti at the Coffee Morning on the 18th. Please be aware next week if you are in school on Wednesday or Friday we will be practising our evacuation and lockdown drills, we practise our drills at least once a term to ensure students and staff understand what to do in an emergency.
I wish you all a lovely long weekend. See you on Tuesday.
