Year 1 Visit Green Connection
As part of their ongoing topic on Coral Reefs and Islands, Year 1 recently enjoyed a brilliant field trip to Green Connection in Likas. The students worked in very excited groups and saw a whole range of the sea creatures they had been learning about. They even saw a diver in a tank and got to hold a beautiful starfish!
Back in the classroom, still linked to their topic, they have been reading The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. Throughout the week, they have been loving a whole range of activities based on the story about a fish who learns the joy of sharing his beautiful scales with his friends. The students were very proud of their amazing independent writing and the Rainbow Fish they have painted and constructed themselves. The students have loved performing Rainbow Fish puppet shows for our friends and the group have talked about the importance of sharing in Circle Time. To conclude the week Year 1 made a huge Rainbow Fish and each student wrote on a fish scale how they could make each other happy. It has been a lovely fishy week and with a lot of fishy fun!
