GO3 at KIS
The Global Ozone (GO3) Project is an innovative programme designed to promote environmental literacy, particularly knowledge of air pollution and climate change, through a hands-on research project featuring global collaboration. KIS’ Science Department were the proud recipients of one of five high quality scientific instruments that the GO3 project is loaning to Malaysian schools. Over the next year students will be able to measure and record ozone and black carbon levels, to increase their knowledge of air quality, climate science, and the effects air pollution has on environmental and human health. GO3 teachers report that student analysis of their own data creates lasting impacts on both their learning and interest in environmental issues.
A further goal of the GO3 Project is to build a global community of students monitoring air pollution, sharing data, and collaborating on the GO3 Social Network where they share and discuss their data and proposed interpretations in blogs and forums.
