It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Kinabalu International School.

KIS is a warm, welcoming and progressive British international school in the heart of Sabah. Here at KIS everybody is valued as an individual and student development is at the very heart of everything we do.

Established in 1973, KIS provides outstanding education for students aged 3 to 18 years old. We take pride in providing an education that develops all aspects of a studentโ€™s intellectual, physical, creative, social and moral character and prepares them to be highly successful, contributing members of society. We nurture global citizens.

We want the best for your child and we challenge every student to strive for personal and professional excellence, to have an open mind, be curious, critical and caring, so that they are well prepared for tomorrowโ€™s world.

Our mission:

KIS has a proud history as a leading international school in Asia and this year our community will be celebrating 50 years of providing an inclusive, caring and progressive learning environment for students of all backgrounds.

We encourage each student to play an active role in school life, both in and out of the classroom, and the opportunities provided by KIS for personal and social development are second to none.

The KIS community is vibrant and diverse, with over 30 nationalities represented among our students and nearly ten nationalities among our dedicated teaching staff. We are immensely proud of our truly international school.

KIS is committed to supporting students to reach their full potential and our curriculum provides a solid foundation for learners to develop their skills and expand their knowledge. Our educational programmes follow the English National Curriculum with an international influence, leading to the Cambridge International IGCSE and A-Level examinations. KIS students are well-prepared to access universities throughout the world and our graduates have been offered places at many of the world’s top institutions.

KIS is very proud to be a not-for-profit school, owned and operated by parents for the benefit of their children. The school is managed by a committed and forward-thinking Board of Governors, which is elected annually by parents. In addition, KIS has a very active Parents and Teachers Association who organise and support a range of excellent community events during the year.

KIS is a wonderful school that is continuously evolving as we seek to provide the best for your children.

I very much look forward to welcoming you to Kinabalu International School and would be delighted to show you around, so you can see for yourself what it is that makes KIS such a special place.
