So this week saw me taking on new jobs at school. To begin the week, instead of being the Head of Primary, I became a bank manager. Talking to lots of start up businesses about their business plans and approving bank loans. Some of the people who came to see me looked very worried when I explained to them that they would need to pay the money back that I was giving to them. However, when I then went on to explain that it would be from the profits from the sale of their goods they visibly relaxed. I could see little brains working out how they were going to explain to their parents that they had signed their weekly allowance away to help make wax crayons, sherbet dip dabs or stress balls!<\/div>\n

Our new Enterprise topic has started off with a bang and the positive vibes and hype about the different stalls has set Primary buzzing. New posters are going up daily and flyers are being given out. All the children are very excited to see which group will be the winners of the enterprise cup at the end of term celebration assembly.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Mr Green has more information about the different items that are in production and their prices, so please do read on so you know how many summer fair vouchers to purchase.<\/div>\n

The other job I took on this week was ticket \u2018sales\u2019 for the Year 6 production of Olivia. The children from \u00a0both classes have been working hard learning their lines and practicing their songs all term and are getting very excited ahead of opening night on Wednesday. Due to the fact that the production will be in the more intimate venue of the MPR we are strictly only admitting people with tickets. If you would like to come along on either Wednesday or Thursday evening, please come and see me either before or after school to get your complementary ticket and choose your seat. Tickets are on a first come, first served basis and we cannot guarantee that there will be extra seating on the night.<\/div>\n

Thursday night saw our last residential trip of the year take place. All of Year Two came back to school in the early evening ready to \u2018sleepover\u2019 at school in the MPR. They had their pillows and sleeping bags along with of course their favourite teddy bears all ready for a fun filled evening of games, stories food and laughter. A huge thank you to the Year Two team who were assisted by Mr Elver!<\/div>\n

In addition to these exciting events, Reception and Foundation One students had their first ever school trip yesterday. They were accompanied by many teachers from school when they went to Kivatu Farm in Penampang to look at how to grow plants (hint, hint – they have been making beautiful seed packets ready for the summer fair!) and look after them properly.<\/div>\n

Enterprise<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Enterprise topic is in full flow in the Primary department and the children are busy creating, making, advertising, budgeting and thinking of persuasive ways of selling their wonderful items. <\/span><\/p>\n

I thought I would give you a list of the items so you can start saving all your money! You will need to buy KIS summer fair vouchers in advance or on the day and you can use them for both the KIS summer fair stalls as well as the Enterprise stalls. Please remember that all the profit made will be going to our chosen charity. <\/span><\/p>\n

Year 4 Residential Report<\/strong><\/h2>\n

During their three days in the jungle, our Year 4 students developed some important and very useful life skills such as how to make your bed, how to clear the dishes from the dinner table and how to rappel down an 18m-high wall. The aim of the residential visit was for children to embrace new experiences and to expand their comfort zones. As usual, the zip line back-and-forth across the Kiulu River was the highlight for many, although, surprisingly, it was not the most frightening experience of the trip. Here is our top ten list of things which are scarier than The Adventure Centre\u2019s zip line:<\/p>\n

10 \u2013 seeing a snake in the river<\/p>\n

9 \u2013 being slide tackled in the rain<\/p>\n

8 \u2013 having to listen to Mr Burrows\u2019 singing<\/p>\n

7 \u2013 finding a plastic cockroach in your sleeping bag<\/p>\n

6 \u2013 slipping on muddy stepping stones<\/p>\n

5 \u2013 seeing your egg roll off the balance board<\/p>\n

4 \u2013 discovering a huge tarantula-like spider on your trunk<\/p>\n

3 \u2013 sitting in a bus that can\u2019t get up the mountainous roads<\/p>\n

2 \u2013 running out of Maggi at the cookout<\/p>\n

1 \u2013 finding someone else\u2019s pants in your hammock<\/p>\n
