Over the past few weeks, Year 6 have begun their transition to being Secondary Students. Whether their learning journey will continue at KIS or elsewhere in the world, the skills and experiences needed for Secondary school are the same.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Secondary specialist teachers have been coming in to their classroom to co-teach English or Maths lessons and more recently, the Year 6 students have been going to the science labs with their class teachers to learn how to successfully work in the lab. They took this opportunity to also work on science projects in small groups in preparation for our upcoming Science Fair next week.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The students have been working hard in their groups to create different machines, that will compete in the Egg Olympics next Wednesday as part of our Science Day. During Science Day, the Year 6 students will be working as part of the Secondary department for the day and following a Secondary timetable for the day, with their day finishing at 3.00pm.\u00a0 Letters were sent home earlier this month about this. If you have not returned your reply slip yet, please can you do so on Monday? Those students who have a paid club to go to on Wednesday, will go to the club instead of carrying on with the Secondary activities for the day.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Year 6-7 transitions will continue this term and in June the students will have the opportunity to work as a secondary student for three days, working in the secondary classrooms, with the secondary teachers and following a secondary timetable. More information will be available about this nearer to the time.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Global Citizenship Award<\/b><\/div>\n
Last week I wrote that following on from the Secondary department awarding a Global Citizen Award for the older students, that I was looking for nominations for the Primary Global Citizenship award. If you have anybody in mind, please send me an email saying their name and why you thing they deserve this award.\u00a0Nominations will be welcomed from all members of the KIS community.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
