Next term we are running 72 clubs across the Primary and Secondary schools, of a huge variety including music, dance, sports, games, languages and arts and crafts.<\/p>\n<p>If you have yet to sign up to a club for your child, please email me at eca@kis.edu.my no later than Wednesday 9th January. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!<\/p>\n<p>Ms Jowene Elle Chia<br \/>\n<strong>ECA Coordinator<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Book Week 2019 &#8211; 29th January &#8211; 1st February<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nA reminder to everybody that the most important week of the school year is coming soon! (I might be biased&#8230;) Book Week will be the Monday 28th January to Friday 1st February, and the theme is\u00a0<strong>\u2018Magic and Monsters\u2019<\/strong>. I hope costume designs and preparations are not too frantic, but some of the ideas I hear from the students and teachers already sound amazing!<\/p>\n<p>Very soon, boxes will appear (as if by magic?) in your child\u2019s classrooms ready to collect in all the pre-loved book donations for the\u00a0<strong>Big Book Swap<\/strong>. Please note that every student is expected to bring in a book to donate, and it must be of a good enough quality that you wouldn\u2019t mind if your own child brought it home with them!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Primary Reminders<\/span><br \/>\nThose of you with children in Primary are also encouraged to get involved in Book Week &#8211; perhaps reading a favourite story to your child\u2019s class? This can be easily arranged with your child\u2019s teacher, and we would very much appreciate it! We will also be running the \u2018<strong>Book@bedtime<\/strong>\u2019 activity, where children will come to school in their pyjamas (Primary only!) and spend the end of their school day making reading forts, snuggling under blankets, and listening to their favourite stories. This year, the theme of the Friday feast and prize-giving will be a\u00a0<strong>Hogwarts Extravaganza<\/strong>, so start planning your menus accordingly!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Secondary Reminders<\/span><br \/>\nFor those of you with children in Secondary, we will be running the\u00a0<strong>cake contest<\/strong>\u00a0again this year. The idea is for students to bake and decorate a cake on the theme of \u2018Magic and Monsters\u2019, ready to display and be judged on the Friday of Book Week. Not only will winners receive prizes and house points, but also we will (hopefully!) get to eat some delicious cake! You may have also seen your child bring home a \u2018<strong>Book Passport<\/strong>\u2019, and it would be very helpful if you could support your child with this.
