[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Welcome back to Term 2 everyone, I hope that you all had a lovely holiday. It has been lovely to see the students come happily back to school this week.<\/p>\n

This may be a shorter term than Term 1, but there are a lot of activities planned already for the students and our families to look forward to. This weekend sees our Stingrays team in Bangkok competing at the FOBISIA swimming competition. I would like to wish them well and look forward to hearing all about their successes when they return to school next week.<\/p>\n

Years 3, 5 and 6 have got their residential trips to look forward to this term. Year 3 will be spending a night sleeping at Sabah Tea Gardens to help them discover more about the local plants that can be used in cooking amongst other things, while Year 5 will be flying off to Kuching for three nights to enhance their Ancient China topic. Year 6 will be venturing further afield to Penang for five nights to explore the street art in line with their art topic as well as discovering more about how WW2 affected Malaysia.<\/p>\n

In addition to these wonderful residential activities, the students have got our annual Book Week to look forward to in school. This will be happening during the final week before our mid term break, during the week commencing Monday 28th January. Also that week we will be hosting our annual Chinese New Year assembly which all parents are more than welcome to attend. There will be additional class trips planned this term to enhance the students understanding of the curriculum as well as having visitors come in to school to help us celebrate World Pangolin Day and other events.<\/p>\n

Finally towards the end of this term we will be holding our annual Sports Day at Penampang Sports Stadium as well as the KS2 and Secondary Swimming Gala at Likas pool. With the ECA programme beginning on Monday as well, you can understand why I say that this will be a busy term.<\/p>\n

In addition\u00a0to these events for the students, we will also be hosting our termly topic talk later this term, led by Mrs Beth Walker, Head of Primary English. She will be explaining to parents how you can help your children with their phonics progression and demonstrating how we use different resources to support this vital teaching.<\/p>\n

School Canteen<\/strong><\/span>
\nTo help provide our older Primary students in Years 5 and 6 with the opportunity to learn responsibility with money,\u00a0if you would like your child to have the opportunity to either purchase something small at snack time or to get a drink at lunch time, please provide them with a maximum of RM10 per day. Students should still either be pre-ordering their lunches from the canteen or bringing in lunch from home. This money will be the students’ responsibility and they will need to ensure they have something safe to put it in during the day.<\/p>\n
