Year 2 enjoyed its first field trip of the year on Wednesday 21st September with a hike to Bukit Padang to explore our local area.\u00a0 Students, together with the Year 2 teaching team and parent volunteers, discovered the local flora and fauna, as well as other interesting features including just how close KIS is to the lake and jungle area of Bukit Padang.<\/p>\n
The children helped to plan the walking route to Taman Tun Fuad Stephens using maps in class, which they used to track our progress along the route.\u00a0 They also recorded many insightful observations along the way and especially loved feeding the fish and terrapins in the lake.\u00a0 The children then sampled some food of the local area and some tasty Chinese iced tea \u2013 which some of us tried for the very first time!<\/p>\n
In the coming weeks we will be using the information collected on this trip for our class work in Mathematics, to map the area and plot coordinates, as well as in an integrated Literacy, Drama and History topic where we will be examining the life of Tun Fuad Stephens, whom the park is named after.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
