For nearly every adult, technology is essential to our lives, at home and at work. At KIS we understand the importance of equipping our students with the appropriate computing skills to prepare them for the workplace and to be able to participate effectively in this digital world. From the Early Years Foundation Stage through to the Sixth Form at KIS we incorporate technology into the curriculum to develop in our students a foundation of skills, knowledge and understanding of technology that they will draw upon for the rest of their lives.<\/p>\n<p>In the first half of Term 1 of this academic year we have seen our Foundation 1 students using iPads to help develop their knowledge of phonics. In Year 4 students have been using the internet to seek information and support their understanding of renewable energy resources. Our students in Year 9 have been creating PowerPoint presentations to explain their understanding of tectonic plates and in Year 10 students are working towards modules that will lead to their final certification in CLAiT, an internationally recognised computing qualification. For our students in the Sixth Form a large proportion of their work, research and presentations are carried out using various forms of technology and they may have chosen to study Applied ICT as an A Level subject.<\/p>\n<p>So whenever our students leave us, be that as graduates or as they transfer to another school in another location, they leave KIS having developed a range of technological skills appropriate to their age that will stand them in good stead for their future education and careers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Computers are now a part of everyday life.
