Last weekend saw the Secondary students at KIS take to the stage for their adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. After months of preparation the cast transported the audience to the streets of Verona where their passionate performances retold this famous story. Both performances were met with rapturous applause and positive reviews by the audience of students, parents, staff, family and friends.<\/p>\n
Here are a few words about the performance from KIS\u2019 Drama teacher, Mr. Bryant:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThis bud of love by summer\u2019s ripening breath may prove to be a beauteous flower\u201d\u2026\u2026an apt quote indeed for describing the eight long months of nurturing that led up to the final two performances of \u2018Romeo and Juliet\u2019 this weekend; the theatrical flower that eventually unfurled was a beautiful one.<\/p>\n
Needless to say, I am immensely proud of the cast. Their preparation, reflection and camaraderie were evident for all to see. One of the many accolades that we received after the show was \u201csome of those scenes were electric\u201d and I couldn\u2019t agree more. I had seen those scenes a hundred times before but in the final performances I was blown away with the quality of what was happening on stage.<\/p>\n
I would like to thank all of the people that made up our audience for both performances. It was your response to what was happening on stage that really rallied the cast and enabled them to take their performances to the next level. I would also once again like to thank all those involved in helping us to prepare for such a great day.\u00a0Now, what to pick for next year?!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
