It was lovely to welcome nearly 20 parents into the hall as I presented on the importance of Physical Education in supporting children\u2019s health and well-being and how our PE curriculum emphasises both\" \/>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parents got to experience the concepts presented through some fun activities, and I have to say, I was very impressed with both the enthusiasm and learning shown. However rather than lessons being led by the teachers, students were given the opportunity to take charge of their own learning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Sport Education, students are organized into teams, which then compete against each other in various sports throughout a season. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students were divided into teams at the start of the term with every player taking on a specific role. These included a range of coaching positions to work on bowling, batting and fielding as well as a fitness coach and as all top sports teams need, a data analyst to track their progress and a media team to ensure that the team\u2019s progress and results were well documented and publicised.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This approach allows for students to build confidence and independence in leading their peers and taking responsibility for their own success. It fostered a lot of the \u2018soft skills\u2019 that are so important for students to develop in order to become successful global citizens such as positive communication, planning &amp; organisation, collaboration and leadership.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lessons were structured with a training session and then a match each week. Teams were able to accumulate points in both their cricket league matches as well as through weekly tasks that were set which all went towards determining a Sport Education Champion Team.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like any Sports Season, we finished with an Awards Ceremony to recognise those students and teams that had really excelled either in their individual roles or as a collective team unit.
