This coming Wednesday 20th March, I am excited to be hosting a Coffee Morning where I will be taking parents through a \u2018physical education journey\u2019 of PE and Sport at KIS. I will be answering questions like <\/span>WHY <\/b>Physical Education is such a valuable subject. <\/span>WHAT<\/b> we focus on in both curriculum and sport at KIS, and <\/span>HOW <\/b>we ensure that all students find value in Physical Education lessons and are also supported on their sports development pathway.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Just like your students’ PE lessons, this session will aim to be as active as possible and so I encourage all parents to come dressed for success in their sports kit!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We will be meeting in the Hall from 7:45 for a \u2018warm-up\u2019 coffee and then getting into the \u2018main activity\u2019 at 8:00am. All are welcome and I hope to see you there on Wednesday!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Gabriel Leone (5K) travels to Kuala Lumpur for the KL Cup<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Recently Gabriel in 5K had the opportunity to travel to KL to play as part of a Sabah team at an Internationally represented football tournament. By all accounts he had a fantastic time and learnt a great deal from the experience. Read his account below for more details. Well done, Gabriel!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe tournament my team played was called the KL cup. It had teams from around South Asia such as Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and so on. We did not qualify for the group stages and lost all the friendly matches\u00a0 but we won one match against FCKL Falcons and for us that is all what it matters.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I enjoyed the whole experience especially playing against international teams but not only about football, I also enjoyed the outside playing experience with the teammates and food the coaches gave us.\u201d – <\/span><\/i>Gabriel<\/span><\/p>\n

Liga SupaRimau Season A – Weekend wrap-up<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

I was finally able to get down last Saturday to Likas to see our newest Under 14 Liga Vipers in action in their final round that saw them play a double header against both the top placed league team and the team directly above them on the table. It was fantastic to see the team playing football on a full size 11-a-side pitch.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Being the first time we have entered the Under 14 competition, we were excited to be able to offer that continuing pathway for players coming up, but also knew, as with our first seasons in other age groups, that this was going to be an immense challenge for the team to undertake. Add in clashes with \u2018International duties\u2019 at FOBISIA it was indeed a tough and at times testing first season for all involved.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

What I saw on Saturday though was a group of individuals who were 100% committed to the cause. It was clearly evident that they have already learned a lot from this first season and are keen to carry on next season in May.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The boys had to play their second game kicking off at 11:30 and it was such an emotional rollercoaster to be a part of from the sidelines. The team had a real break through in scoring their first Liga goal which was justly celebrated by the crowd on the sidelines.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Besides getting to observe the efforts of coaches Benoit, Ben and Arius and all the players, I also got to witness the most impressive support staff system led by Milena Salgado and Sharon Latimer. These two parents have done a superb job at coordinating drinks, cold towels and shade for the team every weekend over the course of the season and made sure all the players were well looked after. Thank you both and to all the parents for chipping in!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“What an end to the first season of Liga Suparimau for our U14 team.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Last Saturday, we had a tough two games against the top team of the league and the second bottom team. We improved dramatically from the first two games where we lost 15 and 17-0. This time we lost 8-0 against the winner of the league, and we lost 4-1 (and scored our first goal) against the second bottom. Congratulations to Aldrich for winning man of the match for the first game and to Lucas for winning man of the match for the second game and scoring our first goal as an U14 team. We were always positive, and we always kept our heads up high even though we lost all of our games. We enjoyed every bit of it. I believe this is because of our fighting spirit as a team that we improved drastically and we are ready for season 2.\u201d –\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\"\"As mentioned last week, all teams will continue their weekly training during the \u2018offseason\u2019 to carry on preparing for next season that will start in May. This exception is there will be no training during the holidays or on Thursday 11th April for Hari Raya.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        Primary FOBISIA (April 29-May 3) – Important dates<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

        The final payment of <\/span>RM1800<\/b> is due on <\/span>Friday 22nd March<\/b> as well as having all forms completed and submitted by this date. All students received \u2018hard copies\u2019 of the necessary forms and so please let me know if you have not received these yet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
