[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A final reminder to all parents of Secondary students that this coming Tuesday 5th December the entire Secondary school will be assembling in their house colours of red, yellow and blue at Likas Athletics Stadium.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Please take note of the important details below to ensure that your child\/children are prepared for the day.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Arrive at the stadium by no later than 7:40am for registration. Please be advised that there may be traffic around the stadium in the morning so please factor that into your travel plans.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Students should be wearing their full PE kit. This includes: navy blue shorts, house t-shirt, suitable shoes for taking part in a sports activities and most important a HAT!\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Due to restrictions from the venue, there will be very little to no shade available for students when they are out competing. Therefore, please make sure that they have a hat, sunscreen and a refillable water bottle for the day. When students are not taking part in events they will be sat in the stand.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. STUDENTS WILL NOT RECEIVE SCHOOL MEALS THAT DAY. Please ensure that your child\/children eat breakfast before they arrive and that they have a packed lunch with small snacks to keep them energised during the day. There will be food stalls open at the stadium if students need to buy additional food or drinks.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. The event is scheduled to finish at 1:00pm. Please make sure that if you have not stayed for the event that you are there on time at 1:00pm to collect your child\/children.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Sports Day is always a wonderfully exciting event in the school calendar and allows our talented athletes the opportunity to shine and challenge themselves. It is also a great opportunity to showcase our house system and the importance of working together and supporting one and other to achieve goals. In addition to the formal events there will be a number of fun activities that all students can participate in as well as some whole House challenges that teams will compete in for bonus points.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    We hope to see as many parents as possible in the stands supporting all the students, and don\u2019t forget to bring your trainers to also get involved in some of the events as well!<\/span><\/p>\n

    Silly Sports Day<\/strong><\/h3>\n

     <\/p>\n

    On Thursday lunchtime on the school field we held KIS’ first ever Silly Sports Day. This was an event to get students in the house spirit in the build up to the official Sports Day on Tuesday. All secondary students had the opportunity to turn up and take just one minute of their time to complete the 3 novelty events which would help their House achieve the best position possible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The 3 events included;<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Wellie Toss<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Shoe Flick<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Water Race<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      With only 1 attempt at each event – power, accuracy and technique were all critical.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      The amount of students turning up for each House was fundamental to their success. Well done to all Houses, the percentage of students attendance is below.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Gaya – 44%<\/span><\/p>\n

      Sapi – 49%<\/span><\/p>\n

      Sulug – 46%<\/span><\/p>\n

      The PE Department did not want Primary to miss out on all the fun, so over the course of the week, the Silly Sports Day events were also completed in their PE lessons. They absolutely loved it and demonstrated excellent teamwork and communication skills as they discussed and shared good ideas to help each other with technique.<\/span><\/p>\n

      1st – Sulug – 38 points<\/span><\/p>\n

      2nd – Sapi – 37 points<\/span><\/p>\n

      1st – Sulug – 10 points<\/span><\/p>\n

      2nd – Sapi – 7 points<\/span><\/p>\n

      3rd – Gaya – 5 points<\/span><\/p>\n

      U17 Sabah State Championships & selection into the Sabah B State Team for Dasha.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Recently Dasha in 10K has enjoyed even more success with her basketball where she competed at the start of the month at the U17 Sabah State Championships. Here is her report from the competition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      \u201cIt was a true privilege to compete in the Sabah State Championships U17 held in Tawau, all of the participating teams’ commitment and passion were evident throughout the competition. Overall, it was a positive experience even if we only managed to win one game versus Sandakan. Getting into the Sabah Selections and scoring 32 points and getting 64 rebounds in the Sandakan vs. Keningau game, this also resulted as being one of the top scorers and top rebounder, these were two of my greatest moments.\u201d Dasha 10K<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

      \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

      Shortly after receiving this report from Dasha she received the great news that she had been selected to represent the state of Sabah at the U17 National Championships later in December. A tremendous achievement for someone who has only just turned 15.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      Sabah Junior Tour Leg 3\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

       <\/p>\n

      A number of students from Year 6 to Year 10 were involved in this 3 day tournament that took place at Sutera Harbour from 24th-26th November. I enjoyed getting down on Saturday morning where I was able to catch Dahyun (6K) win her 2nd round match as well as support Tony (10K) in his 2nd round match.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t
