“Schools that embrace\u00a0the\u00a0trends\u00a0shaping\u00a0tomorrow\u00a0will be\u00a0relevant\u00a0to the lives of their students. We must ensure that we are leading\u00a0for their\u00a0future, not our\u00a0past”<\/span><\/p>\n

This was one of the key messages that I outlined to parents during Thursday’s ‘Coffee Morning’, the theme of which was “Laying Foundations For The Next 50 Years”.<\/p>\n

I have written and spoken at length about the strength of the KIS community and the many wonderful things the school does and has to offer. As fantastic as KIS is and as much as KIS punches above its weight when it comes to our school experience (FOBISIA member, CIS accredited, very strong academic track record) we will always have areas to improve upon.<\/p>\n

To improve, to move forward, to grow and to ensure we are leading for our\u00a0children’s future, not our past; we must have not only an aspirational mindset but also a collaborative and community first approach. When schools work as a unit and as a partnership between teachers, parents and students, great things can happen.<\/p>\n

While it was a brilliant opportunity to address parents on Thursday and answer many pressing questions, it was clear that we can take extra steps to strengthen and further our home-school partnership. I am excited to announce that a Google Form will be sent home to all parents next week asking for your input and guidance as to an upcoming carousel of ‘Coffee Mornings’ that KIS will run. The aim of these sessions will be to operate as workshops where home and school can work together to ensure we are leading for our children’s future.<\/p>\n

For those of you unable to attend the ‘Coffee Morning’ on Thursday I outlined my vision for the school and how KIS will steadily be evolving its approaches to teaching and learning. I emphasised our aim to not only focus on the transactional exchange of knowledge but ensure we are imparting the skills, attitudes and values as well as learning behaviors required for our students to navigate the ever evolving world around them.<\/p>\n

In addition to this I also presented some visions for updates and improvements to the KIS\u00a0site to ensure we are providing the best possible learning experience for our children.<\/p>\n

The ‘Coffee Morning’ culminated with a discussion around the home-school partnership and the importance of transparency, relationships, accountability, collaboration and engagement. These concepts are foundational to our ability as a community to lead for our children’s future, not our past.<\/p>\n
