The first 10 weeks of the 2023-24 school year have absolutely flown by.<\/p>\n

In my address during Tuesday’s 50th Anniversary Birthday Party, I reflected on the sheer volume of quality events and learning opportunities that have taken place since our return in mid-August. I also reflected that it boggles the mind to think of the many, many more incredible experiences and stories that have been shared over the preceding 50 years.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Following Tuesday’s wonderful event I was fortunate enough to be visited by some Year 5 students (Roy, Dahee and Joobeen)\u00a0 who presented to me their ‘persuasive writing’ projects\u00a0they had been working on in class. They were tasked with creating a brochure or document that would persuade parents why they should send their children to join KIS.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
As I chatted with the students and they read their work to me, what stood out was that the students didn’t talk about ‘what’ they were learning, they talked about ‘how’ they were learning and what they ‘felt’ when they were learning. They also spoke, and wrote, at length about the positive impact of being a part of so many different events and experiences. To use the words of one of the students, at KIS the focus is on “developing minds” and “creating countless memories”.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Great schools are great because of the people. When the whole community is involved and is a part of things, sharing stories, sharing journeys and being part of wonderful events, great things happen.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
As this half-term comes to a close and we look ahead to a well-earned break I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in our community, parents, students and teachers. Your contributions, your efforts and your participation is what creates the “countless memories”. Without the input and engagement from the whole community the last 50 years would not be as magical as they were and the next 50 years will not be as successful as I certainly hope them to be. Thank you for making our school great.<\/div>\n
