[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It was wonderful to see so many members of the KIS and wider community in the school hall on Wednesday morning for Open Day. The Secondary presentation was very well attended, with all chairs taken! Mrs Beresford, Mr Bromley, Mrs Colbeck and I spoke about the practicalities of Secondary: how it is structured into three Key Stages, what subjects are offered at each stage and how the tutor groups are designed. We also touched upon our fantastic IGCSE and A Level results, and how they exceed schools around the world and in the UK. Our students do brilliantly well, gain Cambridge Awards [Top in World, Top in Malaysia etc] in a range of subjects and they proceed to high-ranking universities around the world to study a wide range of subjects.<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"We understand that in order to achieve academically students must feel comfortable, happy and supported. As adults, we can all identify with this. Sometimes life is difficult for young people; those difficulties may be partly outside of their control. At KIS we work hard to watch out for students. We aim to form positive and trusting relationships so that we can better understand when a student needs extra help and support, whether that be academic and \/ or pastoral in nature. We have relevant policies in place to help us in this, and we are always guided by our mission statement in maintaining and developing a \u2018caring and respectful environment\u2019.<\/p>\n

Note about a Practical Matter<\/strong><\/p>\n

Occasionally a students may be sick and unable to come to school. Should that be the case, we ask that a parent or guardian [not the student] email the relevant form tutor so that we can keep our attendance records up to date. If parents are planning<\/em> for their child to be absent, they should complete a \u2018planned absence form\u2019 which is available at the front office. This should be done two weeks before the absence starts.<\/p>\n
