TMBT – The Most Beautiful Thing!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

It really was a most beautiful thing last weekend to see representatives from all parts of the KIS community taking part in the Borneo Ultra Trails event <\/span>\u201cThe Most Beautiful Thing\u201d<\/span><\/i>. The race draws its name from the phenomenal natural beauty and terrain that you pass through with Mount Kinabalu rising impressively above you as \u2018run\u2019 through dense jungle forest paths, wade through rivers, traverse hanging bridges and pass through kampungs with locals selling 100Plus and offering pieces of pineapple to keep you going to the finish.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Temperatures were already scorching when competitors in the 12km and 30km were toeing the start line whilst being treated to traditional dance performances and banging drums before the \u2018gun sounded at 8am and people raced off. Our Primary Leadership Team was well represented with both Ms Gibbons and Mr Hayward taking part in the 12 km race. Ms McPherson was also racing in the 12 km and got away to a flying start. All three staff members enjoyed themselves and completed the race in high spirits. It was Mr Hayward\u2019s first trail run experience and he did say afterwards that he is keen for more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A very special mention to Ms McPherson who was not only the 6th person across the line out of all 172 competitors BUT also took out 2nd Place in the Women\u2019s Category – AMAZING!!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I was caught a little bit by surprise in the early stages of the race when I heard a quiet \u201cHi Miss\u201d as Ian Zi (9S) jogged past as we were making our way to the first big climb. I was extremely impressed when he told me was taking part in the 30km race, no mean feat for someone at just 13 years of age. Ian Zi though is no newcomer to trail running having been taking part in races for a number of years with both his parents keen runners. Mum was also taking part in the 30 km and I was thrilled to hear the news that they both successfully completed the race crossing the finish line together! Well done to mum & son!!<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Personally, having completed the 30km last year I was both nervous and excited about the prospect of what was going to come my way on the course this year but loved every minute of the race and experience. I was thrilled to finish in a much faster time than last year and was also shocked when told I was in fact the 3rd Woman to cross the line for 30km!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The BUTM has already been scheduled for the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of March and with a range of distance starting from 9 km there really is something for everyone. And with such an ideal training ground in Bukit Padang right next door, it would be wonderful if we could coordinate an even greater KIS contingent to take part.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

MSSM Ten Pin Bowling\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Natalie 9K travelled to Penang as part of the Sabah team to compete at the National Titles for Ten Pin Bowling in the U15 Girls Category. I asked Natalie to write a short piece about her experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a very good experience to bowl in the u15 category this year. I have tried a new oiling pattern that I\u2019ve never bowled with before. It was a tough and challenging tournament for me. At the end of the competition I managed to get a ranking of 21 out of 60 for the overall result. I truly did the best I could and was able to make friends with people all over the state. It was a good experience for me and I will train well to represent KIS and get a better result during the MSSM next year. I hope I get this opportunity again and strive for better.\u201d <\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Reaching the national titles in any sport is a tremendous achievement, and at only 13, Natalie was one of the youngest competitors in her age group making her result even more impressive! Natalie\u2019s self-reflection on her performance is wonderful to read and her commitment to wanting to persevere and work hard so she can return next year as an even more accomplished bowler is commendable.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From myself and the entire KIS community, congratulations Natalie and best of luck in chasing and achieving your future dreams!<\/span><\/p>\n

Liga SupaRimau Season C<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This morning at 8:00am our Under 10 and Under 12 Liga SupaRimau Vipers will play their first games of Season C at Likas. The Liga SupaRimau League has grown substantially as the year has progressed, and with many more new teams joining in Season C, it looks set to be a very exciting competition for all involved.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Final reminder to parents to please make sure you have paid your Season C competition fees which can either be paid in cash to the front office or via bank transfer. If paying by bank transfer then please make sure you use the following payment reference \u201cLSR Season C *child\u2019s name*\u201d so we can easily track your payment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
