On Wednesday, the Safeguarding Team held another \u2018Drop off and Drop in\u2019 Coffee Morning. This time the focus was on Adverse Childhood Experiences. \u2018Adverse Childhood Experiences\u2019 (ACEs) is the term used to describe highly stressful, and potentially traumatic events or situations that occur during childhood or adolescence. It can be a single event, or prolonged threats to, and breaches of, the young person\u2019s safety, security, trust or bodily integrity. What a child experiences is fundamental to their mental health and emotional wellbeing in childhood, adolescence and adulthood.<\/i><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

During the session, parents and staff worked in groups to discuss what types of experiences would be classed as \u2018Adverse\u2019 and then we went on to look at two case studies and what effects these experiences could have on the children involved. I think all who attended agreed that it was an extremely useful discussion so please do look out for Safeguarding and Child Protection Coffee Mornings next academic year and if you have ideas about themes for future sessions please let us know.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

YEAR 3 CHESHIRE HOME VISIT<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Year 3 ventured out from the school to visit the Cheshire home. They had prepared for weeks, honing their singing skills and collecting donations to take.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"On the bus, there was an air of anticipation and excitement. For some it was their first school trip!!<\/div>\n
When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the staff and taken on a brief tour of the home. We handed in the donations, which were gratefully received. Then came the moments that we had all waited for.<\/div>\n
We wowed them with our dinosaur song, rocked them with our rock cycle song, our Sea Shanty sent ripples through the crowd and left their hearts racing with our heartbeat song.<\/div>\n
Following this rendition of a year 3s greatest hits, we mingled with the residents and shared the cakes that we had made before in class.<\/div>\n
All in all, it was a thoroughly\u00a0enjoyable experience and one which the children should be really proud of. Another great initiative from the school to give back to the\u00a0community.<\/div>\n
