[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Fun Run last Sunday was, actually, great fun! It was great to see so many Secondary students there (not easy to get up early if you\u2019re a teenager) so well done to them. There is already talk of making this a regular feature on the KIS annual calendar!<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been another \u2018short week\u2019 this week, but that doesn\u2019t mean that there hasn\u2019t been a lot happening. On Monday we had the fabulous Kaamantaan Dance at 8am; due to the ban on outdoor activities this was held in the school hall, with the wonderfully well-behaved early years children sitting patiently on the stage throughout. They were right up close to the action!<\/p>\n

It has been a quiet week as regards the IGCSE and A Level exams, although we did have some taking place on Monday, and Tuesday (the public holiday). Next week is the final week, with exams from Monday to Thursday. Our senior students can then relax a little, knowing that they have done their best. The results come through in August and before that our Year 12 students will be starting their Year 13 studies and participating in Careers Days, with our Year 10 students between 26th<\/sup> and the 28th<\/sup> June. Year 13 have their Graduation Ceremony on 16th<\/sup> June, with the Prom on the 17th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Excitement is mounting for this year\u2019s school production, Macbeth! Tickets are on sale for 20RM from the school office. There are limited seats available (120 each evening on the 14th<\/sup> and 15th<\/sup>) so please don\u2019t delay, or you may be disappointed. The word on the street (and on the stage) is that this is going to be mind-blowingly good! Our students, and Mr Bryant, have been working tremendously hard for months now, and they deserve for this to be super-successful.<\/p>\n

A word about the Safeguarding and Child Protection Coffee Morning, taking place next Wednesday<\/strong> at 8am.<\/strong> The venue has switched to the Drama Studio and it would be great to see lots of parents in attendance. We are planning for a highly interactive session, as last time but with a slightly different focus and we are hoping to see some familiar faces (those of you who attended last time) and some new ones as well. We had terrific feedback in April, and we\u2019re confident that attendees will also find this session to be interesting and beneficial.<\/p>\n

A focus this week on our Year 10 student, Julia Aveline-Rabenjoro. Read on to find out about what Julia has been up to (well done Julia!).<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last weekend I flew to Kuala Lumpur to attend the Malaysia International Dive Exhibition (MIDE). This event took place during 3 days at the MITEC. I was honored to be one of the speakers and I took this opportunity to talk about \u2018Youth in Conservation\u2019 for 20 minutes.<\/p>\n

MIDE is a big event dedicated to ocean lovers and aims to raise awareness and share experiences through forums and talks presented by conservationists from NGOs, underwater photographers and professionals from the dive industry, to name a few.<\/p>\n

Being on stage by myself was definitely a nerve-wracking experience but I am glad to have had a chance to talk about my personal journey as a scuba diver that led me to create Bubbles of Hope, the group of teen divers (mostly KIS students) working together to help clean our ocean.<\/p>\n

MIDE is also a big hub gathering local and international businesses that sell everything you can think of, from diving courses to equipment, travel or watersports at discounted prices!<\/p>\n

A great opportunity to shop, meet people and discover destinations to expand my ever-growing bucket list even more.<\/p>\n

A great exhibition, that I hope I will be able to attend next year.<\/p>\n
