[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]End of terms are a time for looking both backwards and forwards.<\/p>\n

Whilst this term has been a short one when compared to term 1, it has certainly been hugely busy, both in and outside the classroom. We\u2019ve had Year 11, 12 and 13 mock examinations, DofE Adventurous Journeys, UKMT Maths Challenges, Parent Meetings for Year 11, Year 9, Year 10 and Year 7, Geography Field Trips, Maths Day, Global Arts Day and a Drop-Off and Drop-In Coffee Morning which was all about Reporting and Assessment; these are just some of the events. Year 9 students have been busy learning about IGCSE subject choices, and they have now all made their decisions for Years 10 and 11. Similarly, Year 11 students have been focussing on what they are going to do next, and in their Careers lessons have been deciding which A Level subjects they would like to take from August 2023.<\/p>\n

Yesterday we had our Celebration Assembly, followed by fun House activities organised by Mr Watson and supported by House leaders and all teachers. This was an amazing way to end the term.<\/p>\n

There was great excitement in the Hall as we presented many Bronze, Silver and Gold Merit Award certificates to students who have been working very hard in all areas this term. In addition, Ms McNutt was able to hand out Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. DofE Awards are very well known and highly regarded around the world, and by universities which students may apply to moving forwards.<\/p>\n

Mrs Dobbs gave out the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge 2023 Awards [Silver and Gold] and Fion Ho received the Weekly Maths Challenge Award, with several students also receiving recognition for their work during Maths Day \/ PSHE Statistics Presentations.<\/p>\n

The Eco Warriors have been super-busy, and Ms McPherson spoke to highlight all that had been going on, and what was planned for the future, in particular during Earth Week [17th<\/sup> \u2013 21st<\/sup> April]. The FOBISIA Sports events are amazing. They are always hugely enjoyed and valued by the KIS Vipers teams and this year was no exception. Ms Watt\u2019s presentation gave us all a highly entertaining and interesting insight into the U13 FOBISIA Games [19th<\/sup> \u2013 23rd<\/sup> February]. I know that the students who participated will remember their experience at the Games for many many years with great fondness.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I would like to particularly acknowledge the Secondary Charity Committee and the Student Council for all of their work this term, from organising games and stall at Family Fun Day to organising the delivery of over 60 roses on Valentine\u2019s Day. The Bake sale was a spectacular success! So congratulations to those teams, and in particular to Grace Lee [Student Council] and Pik Yen Tong [Charity Committee].<\/p>\n

Many thanks to all members of our community, staff, teachers, parents, PTA for all the hard work which has made this term such a success, and I hope that everyone has a wonderful break. This includes our Year 11, 12 and 13 students who I hope will be able to have some down-time in addition to getting to grips with revision for their exams, which start soon after we return next month!<\/p>\n
