[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On Monday this week we held the Year 10 Parent \/ Teacher \/ Student meetings in the hall from 3pm to approximately 6pm. The event was extremely well attended, with 20+ parents signing in through the QR Code [a new initiative from Mr Bromley]. Unfortunately, a few parents could not make it, so those students simply met with their teachers on their own in order to get one-to-one feedback on how they were progressing overall at this stage of their IGCSE studies. Next Tuesday we have the Year 7 meetings; these will be taking place online and I am sure they will be equally well attended and useful for all parties.<\/p>\n

Year 12 and 13 students have been taking their AS & A Level mock examinations this week and their teachers have been marking the completed papers. The Mock reports will be sent out on the 17th<\/sup> March and will contain target grades, as well as exam percentages and grades. From these mocks, teachers and students will be able to ascertain what areas need to be focussed on for revision and practice before the actual exams, which are rapidly approaching. The students, together with those in Year 11, will start Study Leave on Tuesday 25th<\/sup> April and after that will attend revision sessions in school when needed, in addition to attending for their exams. This week Mr Colbeck and I have been meeting to discuss the examination schedule, with a focus on the fact that they continue throughout the half term break. It is important that families realise this and do not make any plans for their child to go away on holiday; the schedule was sent out to students \/ parents some weeks ago so all should be aware.<\/p>\n

The Student Council and the Charity Committees, ably led by Grace and Pik Yen, are forging ahead and planning activities for the rest of this academic year. On the 14th<\/sup> March there will be a Bake Sale, where all kinds of delicious goodies will be sold to raise money for Turkey. There will also be an opportunity to donate cash with a bucket collection on the same day. Teams will be also active during Family Fun Day on the 18th<\/sup> March, setting up and running Games stall and activities. Next term we will be having a fun staff v students Volleyball Competition, organised by Mr Clifford, and the students will be selling drinks and again have a bucket collection again to raise funds for Turkey.<\/p>\n

Last week Mr Bromley participated in a CIS Accreditation Team Visit to a school in Qatar. As a trained peer evaluator, the visits are an essential part of the accreditation process. Having been part of quite a few of these over the years, visiting schools in Australia, India, Thailand and Hong Kong, I can honestly say that they are not only beneficial for the target school, they are one of the best forms of professional development for members of the visiting teams.
