U13 FOBISIA Games\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

This past week I have had the absolute pleasure of getting to witness 21 of our exceptional students in Year 7 and Year 8 conquer fears, rise above challenges, achieve both personal and team goals and experience the exciting highs and crushing lows of competitive sport.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When I asked the students to describe their week in a word, some of their responses included – exciting, experience, enjoyable, uplifting and memorable. The memories of scoring goals, winning matches or medals, or just simply the time shared with their friends and teammates throughout the week will certainly be memories that these students will hold onto long past leaving KIS.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Taking on the challenge of competing in four different sports across three days is no mean feat. When I asked one student their motivation for joining FOBISIA she said \u201cto get more involved in sports, and to push myself out of my comfort zone.\u201d which is a really inspiring message for others to take on. All the students over the course of the week were required at some point or another to take on challenges that they were nervous or unsure about, but each time they were able to rise above which shows real strength of character and is a quality that will certainly serve them well when facing whatever future challenges may come their way, whether in the classroom or outside in a far more positive manner.<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

We will have a very detailed report featuring all the major highlights of swimming, athletics, football, basketball and chess (which was the unofficial 5th sport of the U13 FOBISIA Games for KIS) in next week’s newsletter. For now, I would just like to acknowledge the efforts of all the students and how proud Ms Young, Mr Richie and I are of their achievements. It was a total team effort and they certainly succeeded in meeting many of the goals that they set for themselves prior to leaving.<\/p>\n

Liga SupaRimau Wrap up – Saturday 18th February<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Watching the games on Saturday, it was wonderful to see how much improvement the players have made in such a short space of time. The under 10\u2019s have gained more awareness and understanding of positions on the field and also become more confident in defense with their tackling. There were also far more attacking opportunities created as they were able to begin to break through their opponents defense.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Under 12\u2019s, in just their second game, showed improved structure in their defense and connectivity when going forward. They showed a great deal of determination and tenacity against a physically strong opponent in TABS, and I\u2019m sure that will give them more confidence going into their remaining matches.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Congratulations to the following players for earning the \u201cPlayer of the Match Award\u201d for their outstanding performances.<\/p>\n

FOBISIA Update<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n

With our two Secondary FOBISIA Games now completed and behind us, our full attention is on the Primary Games taking place in May.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Parents should have seen the message on Dojo about the change to training this week, but a reminder our swimming session at Penampang Pool that was scheduled for Tuesday 28th February has been cancelled due the pool now being unavailable.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Please see here the updated schedule. A reminder that on these days students will travel with staff to the pool and then parents will need to collect their children at 3:30pm.<\/p>\n
