[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Our Chinese New Year celebrations were a wonderful way to end this very short half-term. Many of our students came dressed in traditional clothing or colours in order to celebrate! We began the day with the usual Lion Dance performance. The whole community came together to share in this amazing experience. The PTA also helped us to celebrate by passing mandarins, which are symbols of good fortune, to the students at lunchtime. Thank you to the PTA for their contribution to our celebrations. The children took part in a fabulous array of craft making activities throughout the day. Some of our Y2 students even performed their own Lion Dance, which was super to watch!<\/span><\/p>\n

This week, in our celebration assembly, we of course discussed Chinese New Year and the different ways in which it is celebrated around the world. Also the Stars of the Week and Bronze and Silver certificates were given out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

We all love to read! However, the art of storytelling provides us with another way of communicating and it can be magical for all involved. Performed well, it can be a wonderful shared experience for both the performer and the listener and can offer us an insight into the performer\u2019s world.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through stories we see how different people share the same life experiences and how human nature can transcend culture. Stories provide a common thread that can help unite cultures and provide a bridge across the cultural gap.<\/span><\/p>\n

The week after the holiday is National Storytelling week. Perhaps your child would like to give storytelling a go over the holiday and share their performance with the class when they return.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Have a wonderful CNY break and we will see you all back in school on Monday 30th January.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
