KIS Vipers \u2018Strike Back\u2019 at the U15 FOBISIA Games – PART II<\/b><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Day 2 – Basketball (Boys) and Football (Girls)<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Basketball competition started after a tough but successful day competing in Athletics and Swimming. The first match was against British School of Kathmandu who turned out to be the competition winners. The boys started off a little nervous and found themselves losing the game 15-2 at the end of the first quarter. We changed the tactics against a very powerful side and tried to move the ball faster and in the last three quarters the Vipers managed to get 8 more points on the board. The game finished 19-10 which proved to be a very good result against the strongest team in the competition.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

In the second game we played against HELP international school and this was the most difficult game of the tournament as we played the game straight after the first match. With only a squad of nine players it was hard to play at the intensity they had in the first game and unfortunately, the Vipers suffered their second defeat. We then moved on to POWIIS who finished second in the tournament and despite another loss this was a great performance from the Vipers. After a short break the boys were rejuvenated and were able to push POWIIS to a very close game which resulted in a 10-4 loss. POWIIS had scored 25 plus in all of their other games, A little more care with our free throws and the score could have been different.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"Game number four was against XISP from Penang. Another tough game for the boys but a game that did see us double our points tally to eight from the previous game giving us confidence moving into the last game. The final match was against Garden International School Bangkok. The boys were very tired but this our final. GIS also only had a squad of 9 players and lost their first four games. Vipers fought so hard in the game and everything started to click and we put on our highest points total with a 27-15 win. It was a great way to end a tough day and the boys were very pleased with their performance and outcome of the last game.<\/span><\/p>\n

The sun was out and shining and the Vipers looked ready to go as the girls took the field for their first ever competitive game of football against POWIIS. It was a great start to the competition as our attacking three of Sophie, Pui San and Isabella combined beautifully to move the ball around and create lots of attacking opportunities and scoring 3 goals before half-time. They continued to play well and despite POWIIS getting one goal back in the 2nd half, KIS finished the game with a 4-1 win after a hat trick to Sophie!<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"\"\"Having to take the field soon after the first game against Kathmandu was tough, and the girls were initially intimidated by the physicality of the Kathmandu side and conceded two goals in the first half. Taking the field in the second half the team were more prepared and tightened up on defense with Ana, Dasha and Juah working hard to keep the opposition at bay to finish the game 2-0.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In their 3rd game, the team took on XISP from Penang. A strong team who had some players who could dribble and put pressure on our goal. Despite this the team played really well, Yi Chen coming into midfield showed an impressive work ethic chasing players down and making some good passes. The team played well and whilst chances were created, tiredness made it tough to finish the opportunities presented.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It proved to not be the Vipers day as they narrowly lost their final two games by just one goal in each to finish in 5th place. A final goal to Pui San in the final game of the day was certainly a nice way to finish.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There were some exceptionally impressive performances, but special mention to the team Captain Amanda who led by example in her willingness to never give up and risked life and limb in throwing herself onto the ball to stop many a scoring opportunity. In one match after receiving a foot to the face, she got back up and faced up to stopping a penalty! Sophie throughout the day was also dogged in her determination to chase down every loose ball and support wherever needed without complaint.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

After the football and basketball competitions had finished, it was back to the athletics stadium for some unfinished business! Those that had to refocus and complete field events did brilliantly and when the medals were presented at the end many of our KIS athletes were posing on the podium after being presented with their medals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our jumpers cleaned up with Silver medals to Dasha, Myko and Daniyal in the Triple jump and a Bronze to Haylie. Daniyal doubled up, also winning Silver in the Boys Long Jump A, while Jayden took bronze in the \u2018B\u2019 event.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Not to be outdone, those in throwing events also enjoyed a lot of success. Ken Zi snagged a silver medal in the Boys Javelin \u2018B\u2019, and Ian\u2019s monstrous throw that sent the officials running for safety earned him a Gold in the \u2018A\u2019 event. Sophie took out 3rd in the Girls \u2018A\u2019 Discus and then another medal for Ian claiming silver in the Discus \u2018A\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With athletics finally completed, time to rest before a big last day of competitions!<\/span><\/p>\n

U13 FOBISIA Games –\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • 2nd Payment of RM1500 is due on <\/span>Monday 21st November<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • You should have received an email on Wednesday with information about future training changes in Term 2 <\/span>BUT<\/i><\/b> training currently continues on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays until the end of term.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Tuesday 29th Swimming @ Penampang Pool.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Students will travel by bus to the venue and parents will need to collect their children at 4:45pm from Penampang pool.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Primary FOBISIA Games<\/span> –\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    We have now reached the required number of students for Primary FOBISIA to go ahead in May next year which is fantastic!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    There are still a few spaces left for girls to sign up. Again, if anyone is still considering this opportunity for their daughter then please get in touch.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The first payment of RM1500 should have been made now either to the front office by bank transfer. If you have not already done so could I please ask that this is done before the end of the month. The other payment dates are outlined below:<\/span><\/p>\n

      GOOAAAAALLLLLS galore in the first week of the KIS Cup\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

      \"\"On Monday, the levels of excitement from our Year 3 and 4 footballers was through the roof as they gathered in their teams for the first week of matches.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Overnight rain meant that we could only run one pitch which meant only half the games were completed, but these will be completed later in the tournament.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      There were wins to Mexico and the Netherlands in the opening rounds but with many more matches to be played in the round robin format there will be plenty of opportunities for more goals and fun to be had.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      On Thursday, the field was still quite slippery, but that didn\u2019t alter the intensity of the Year 5 and Year 6 teams in their play. Both England and Brazil came away with a win each, while France will have the opportunity to regroup and play two games next week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      With only 3 teams in the Year 5 and Year 6 Tournament, each team will play each other TWICE in a series of Round Robin matches. The top placed team at the end of the rounds will progress straight to the Final, while the 2nd and 3rd place teams will play off in a semi-final.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      Well done too all the students who are taking part and in doing so not only developing their football skills, but also their ability to work cooperatively with others and play with sportsmanship and respect within a competitive environment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
