[vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It has been a fairly \u2018quiet\u2019 week in Secondary, by which I mean that we have not had any major events, not that students have not been their usual exuberant, hardworking, and creative selves (staff too)!<\/p>\n

Earlier this week I met with the Student Council and Charity Committee leaders to talk about what they would be working between now and the Christmas break. The traditional Xmas Angels, in support of the Sabah Cheshire Home [https:\/\/www.sabahcheshirehome.org\/] will be happening again, and we hope to expand that further this year, so watch out for more news about it in the coming weeks. The committees will also be supporting the Xmas Fair on the 10th<\/sup> December, and will be organising some fun games and activities which reflect the Xmas spirit.<\/p>\n

Yesterday I received this from Sofia in 10S and she asked me to highlight it in the newsletter:<\/p>\n

\u2018The Eco-Warriors are organising a Beach Clean-Up on Sunday 20th November. It will run from 9 am – 12 pm. The venue of the beach we are cleaning is at Langkah Syabas Resort, Kinarut Beach. Please come and join us to clean up the beach as it is currently filled with trash. It would be awesome if you could give up some of your time to help out the environment. <\/em>Link of the resort:\u00a0<\/em>https:\/\/www.langkahsyabas.com.my\/<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n


\nThings to bring: Gloves, Hat\/Cap, Water Bottle, Sunscreen (You don’t have to bring but just remember to put on), Mosquito Repellent.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Eco Warriors would also like to remind all students and parents about the recycling bins near the canteen, and that these should be used for recycling papers, plastic and cans. In addition to that, we would like to remind the students about the ongoing MILO CAMPAIGN. Remember that empty Milo cartons should be recycled in the small, green bins. As there are very few recycling bins in the school, which are only located near the canteen, The Eco Warriors are looking to add extra recycling bins around the locker area so look out for these!\u00a0As some of you may have noticed, we have placed three new bins in our school car park. One in the entrance to the path up to Bukit Padang and the other near the gravel car park. We hope to get a bin collection from DBKK in order to keep our car park clean. Please ensure to put your litter in these bins and if you see any on the floor please pick it up and throw it away!<\/p>\n

Many thanks to Sofia for reminding us all about the Beach Clean-Up [put in in your diaries, and go along even if it\u2019s just for 30 minutes or so!] and also about the new bins which we can use to dispose of our rubbish.<\/p>\n

We are so lucky in school to have such fantastic students who are willing to give up their time and energy to serve the school and the planet. Well done to all our student leaders; they are doing a fantastic job!<\/p>\n

On Thursday the 3rd of November (7.15 pm to be precise) something special was happening at KIS!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For the first time in over two years, we were able to welcome an audience composed of parents, extended family and friends; they came to watch the Year 11\u2019s final devised pieces, two highly original and thought-provoking performances that explored a range of topical issues and existential themes through the medium of expressionism.<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

It is important to note that this was the students\u2019 first \u201cproper\u201d performance of their final pieces. I had been fully anticipating the last-minute jiggle of nerves, lines to be dropped and a host of technical gremlins but to my pleasant surprise, none of those things happened. Their performances were faultless! Each word, movement and interaction performed how it had been intended in the rehearsals (and not a blown bulb in sight!). This of course is testament to the months of hard work that had led them to this point but also (as the audience were witness to) their unwavering support and championing of each other. I have never had a Drama cohort hooting, hollering and high-fiving at the end of a show but it felt like a very fitting end to a very special evening. Thank you to everybody that attended and witnessed one of the best showcases we\u2019ve ever had.<\/p>\n
