We decided that it was important to think about making the right choices about what happens to our bodies. Excited and covered in suncream, we took the bus to the beach &#8211; for some this was their first experience of riding on a bus, so needless to say, spirits were extremely high! Once we arrived at the beach we took a short walk to our camp for the day, close to Lucy\u2019s kitchen. Across the morning, children were involved in four activities: sandcastle building, beach games, shell finding and a beach clean, as well as enjoying a delicious ice-cream midway through the morning.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Beach Clean<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We were surprised to see so much rubbish on the beach when we arrived, but thankfully there were already people there cleaning it up and we could not wait to help! Armed with gloves, bin bags and litter pickers, the children did a fantastic job of collecting rubbish from the beach and the surrounding greenery. In total we collected 3 bin bags full of rubbish.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To end our morning, we enjoyed lunch at Lucy\u2019s Kitchen before catching the bus back to school. We had a few sleepy children on the journey back. \/>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tombs, temples and treasures: A busy day was had by Year Three on their first school trip of the year, getting creative with clay. Having learnt about the mummification process, they made their own smaller version of canopic jars which were used to store the internal organs of the dead during the Ancient Egyptian times.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most chose to replicate the real ones: the jackal headed one (which stored the stomach) proved very popular, perhaps inspired by the story they&#8217;d read in English at the beginning of the topic. All children made KIS proud with exemplary behaviour, insightful questions and a desire to create the best pieces they could. Remembrance Day is held on the 11th of November &#8211; the 11th day of the 11th month of the year. A two minute silence is always held at 11am.
