It was lovely to see such a great turn out and to have them physically in school again. Teachers and students have provided excellent feedback on the new system of students from Y2-Y6 attending the meeting to share their successes and areas for improvement. If you have any feedback please drop me an email: <\/span>khitchen@kis.edu.my<\/span><\/a> . If you were unable to attend but would like to make an appointment to meet your child\u2019s class teacher, please contact them directly through Class Dojo. These Learning conferences are a great opportunity to continue building strong home\/school links and be an active participant in your child\u2019s learning journey.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Friday celebration assembly really is a highlight of my week as it gives us the opportunity to connect as a school community. As always, we celebrated birthdays; announced the Stars of the Week from each class and awarded Bronze certificates.<\/span><\/p>\n

This week Ms Siti joined us again to talk about KIS Care Week. This is taking place next week and there will be a whole range of activities happening that will allow students the opportunity to think about their own wellbeing and ideas around what they can do to improve their wellbeing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During this week, Mrs Renshaw, Mrs Garrick, Ms Young, Ms Siti and I will be hosting a session for parents:<\/span><\/p>\n

As I continue to be amazed by the activities I see when I drop into lessons, I decided it was time to relaunch my \u2018Spotlight on\u2026\u2026.\u2019 series.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This week the Spotlight is on Y6<\/strong><\/h3>\n

During our topic activity, we used plastic sheets to draw the systems of the human body. Each group had their own system, for example group 1 had the circulatory system, my group (group 6) did the renal system. At the end of the lesson, we took each piece of plastic and laid them over each other to see the whole body.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

By doing this activity we learned about the systems of the body. I enjoyed getting the opportunity to take part in this activity as it made learning about the systems of the body FUN!<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Y5 Trip to Mari Mari Cultural Village<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"\"\"<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

On the 28th September, Year 5K went to the Mari-Mari Cultural Village, as part of our topic about Tribes. It was very sunny, not a drop of rain! When we arrived, 5K marched forwards to a wobbly, mossy bridge! At each of the houses, we learned lots of interesting facts about the five different tribes in Sabah; Dusun, Bajau, Rungus, Murut and Lundayeh. After learning and understanding, it was time to watch a performance of the amazing dances that different tribes learn. While waiting for the show to start, we had a free lime juice drink. It was really sweet and delicious! The performance was great and most of 5K volunteered to dance between the bamboo sticks too! Next, it was lunchtime and the food sure was good! After all the fun, 5K had to go back to school but the trip helped us to answer our big question; ‘How important is it to keep tribes and their traditions alive in the modern world?’<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
