Dear KIS Community,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Congratulations to our class of 2022. I thoroughly enjoyed the Graduation for Year 13 yesterday evening at school. My sincere gratitude to Mrs Colbeck for arranging the evening so well and enabling us to share and enjoy the success of our senior students. On behalf of our KIS community I wish them all the very best as they move on to the next stage of their lives. We look forward to hearing of their triumphs and accomplishments, of which we know there will be many.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Year 13 are not the only students going through change, F2 are moving to Year 1, Year 6 are moving to Secondary, Year 9 start IGCSE and Year 11 start A levels, with all the years moving up in between. Much is being done to support your children as they transition to the next year and continue their educational journeys. Even though we are an all-through school, our staff have been busy helping children prepare for the new school year and for what they can expect. If you as Parents are unsure, please do not hesitate to contact your child\u2019s teacher or Head of Key Stage.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our community survey was sent out to students, staff and parents last week. Please check your emails for the link to the online survey, it will only take five minutes and will help us as a school and community to develop and move forward. Thank you to the many who have already completed the surveys. We will of course feedback the results in due course.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This past week has been a flurry of activity with preparations for the Science and Art Days, many students have been rehearsing and auditioning in preparation for KIS has talent in the last week, on Art Day. Year 12 have had an eventful three Career Days, to help prepare for University. My thanks and gratitude to the many parents and staff who came to talk to our students and give them insights into life after school. I was fortunate enough to be able to hear some of the talks, and was impressed with the range of careers and inspiration from our guest speakers. Year 2 and Year 6 presented excellent showcase assemblies and Year 6 also had a day of adventure at the end of the week. Year 10 enjoyed enjoyed the activities and involvement that Ms Service created for their Days of the Future; a new way to look at possible career choices.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The highlight of the week for others perhaps, was Bomba Day. We started with a fire drill, which was the first in a long time, and the Bomba team were impressed with our whole school evacuation. The rest of the day was filled with sirens and hoses, as children, staff (and some parents) enjoyed the excitement of our visiting firemen and firewomen. The end of the day gave an opportunity for staff training with dealing with fires and extinguishers safely.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Next week is the penultimate week (one before last) of the year. Primary have sports\u2019 mornings through the week. The Primary showcase assemblies continue with Year 1 and Year 5. Year 6 will be spending some days in Secondary as part of their transition. Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award students have a practice adventurous journey. Preparations for Science and Art Days continue and end of year reports are being prepared. This is all before the weekend. At the weekend, we have the Summer Fair making a return from 9am to 1pm. There is a UK university Fair taking place in the afternoon at the SICC, and in the evening the senior students have arranged their Prom night. Many of us are looking forward to a well-deserved rest on Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The PTASC for 2022-23 met this week and there was a handover from the previous steering committee to the new. You can read all the details in this week’s newsletter in the PTA section. Thank you to the outgoing members and welcome to the new, I look forward to working with you in the new year.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Remember, we are getting close to our 50th Anniversary in 2023 and we are looking for a select committee of parents, staff and students to help guide us through this special year with ideas and energy to develop and organise events and activities to celebrate this wonderful milestone.
