[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Secondary has been a relatively quiet place this week with students in Years 7 to 10 taking their internal examinations and our Year 11, 12 and 13 students completing their IGCSE and A Levels exams. I am sure we can all remember sitting these kinds of tests when we were at school, and the inevitable sense of stress that we felt. We did them every year without fail; our students haven\u2019t had the benefit of familiarity (another consequence of Covid) and so perhaps for them the stakes felt higher. Teachers are now marking the papers and reports will be written, and then published on June 28th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

We will see some of our Year 11 students in August, when they enter Year 12 to start their A Level courses, and between now and then they have the luxury of a rather longer than usual summer break; time to relax away from the pressures of academic work! For those Year 11s who are moving onto pastures new, we wish them all the best in their new endeavours; it would be lovely to see them again should they ever come back to visit.<\/p>\n

IGCSE and A Level results come out in August, and the students will be able to access them directly from the Cambridge website using individual passwords provided to them by Mr Colbeck.<\/p>\n

From Monday to Wednesday next week we have the Year 12 Careers days. Many thanks to those member of the community who have volunteered to come in and speak to the students about such topics as \u2018Careers in Hospitality\u2019 \u2018Careers in IT\u2019, and we will see Ms Jasmine Leong from IEC, a regular feature of our Careers Days as she talks about \u2018How to Choose your Career Path in the 21st<\/sup> Century\u2019. Maxime and Vinay, two of our ex-Year 13 graduates, will be joining us virtually to talk about \u2018My Life: from KIS to ?\u2019\u00a0\u00a0 In amongst all of this we will having sessions on researching universities, using the Unifrog platform, Ms McNutt will run a session on writing the perfect personal statement, and Mrs Colbeck and Mrs Davis will be giving tips on how to perform well in an interview. On a lighter but no less important note, Mr Bryant will be teaching the students in his session \u2018Cooking for One\u2019 and Mr Williams and Mr Bromley will be demonstrating the basics of \u2018Car Maintenance\u2019, something I wished I\u2019d learned when I was at school!<\/p>\n

Next Friday we have the Year 13 Graduation which is taking place, for the first time, in the school hall, which will be transformed for the occasion. More about that, with photos, in next week\u2019s newsletter.<\/p>\n
