Here, I would like to share my first experience of a mangrove clean-up. As usual, we had to prepare our own hand gloves, the difference was that we needed to wear boots. Before we entered the mangrove, the person in charge of the wetland gave us a short briefing about the route and showed us the map. Then, we were provided plastic bags and garbage tongs to help us get small bits of rubbish. I got trapped by the squishy mud a few times and I guess that is the reason why we need to wear boots. Surprisingly, I saw horseshoe crabs, scorpions and lots of other creatures, I even found a mud cram (which was alive). The air was fresh and it made me feel very comfortable. I also went up the observatory tower where I could view the whole area of the mangrove from the top. The wetland is a beautiful place where many creatures thrive. I feel that this experience was really amazing and I got to see many others working together to make the environment a better place. I am very glad to see that our community is aware that we have to take action and influence each other.
