At this time of year, nominations are invited from students, staff and parents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The profile of the selected student must be aligned with the school\u2019s vision of Global Citizenship: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>A global citizen understands that we are all connected, upholds the values of equality and actively contributes to the development of a better world.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Global Citizens<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>have an awareness of the wider world and a sense of their own role within it<\/li>\n<li>respect and value diversity<\/li>\n<li>are committed to social justice, equality and sustainability<\/li>\n<li>participate in the community at a range of levels, from local to global<\/li>\n<li>take responsibility for their actions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Global Citizenship involves:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enquiring, discussing, thinking critically, reflecting and collaborating<\/li>\n<li>Exploring the complexity of global issues and engaging with multiple perspectives<\/li>\n<li>Applying learning to real-life issues and contexts<\/li>\n<li>All ages and all areas of the curriculum<\/li>\n<li>The whole school community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16944 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kis.edu.my\/kisnewsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/global-citizenship-award-1024x724.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"636\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kis.edu.my\/kisnewsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/global-citizenship-award-1024x724.gif 1024w, https:\/\/www.kis.edu.my\/kisnewsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/global-citizenship-award-300x212.gif 300w, https:\/\/www.kis.edu.my\/kisnewsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/global-citizenship-award-768x543.gif 768w, https:\/\/www.kis.edu.my\/kisnewsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/global-citizenship-award-255x180.gif 255w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you would like to nominate a student to be considered for this award, please email me <a href=\"mailto:margaretrenshaw@kis.edu.my\">margaretrenshaw@kis.edu.my<\/a>. You must include the student\u2019s name, form and detailed information as to why you think they should receive this award. Please remember that this is open to all students, from Year 7 to Year 13. The deadline for nominations is <strong>Wednesday 20<sup>th<\/sup> April 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In other news:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Year 7 to 10 Reports:<\/strong> staff are currently working hard to finalise the reports with the aim that they will be sent out next Tuesday, the 29<sup>th<\/sup> March<\/p>\n<p><strong>Book Week:<\/strong> Excitement is building and tension is rising with just this weekend to go before we launch this year\u2019s Book Week, a major annual event. All thanks to staff and in particular our teacher librarian Mrs Colbeck in advance for what is bound to be another tremendous success.
