Firstly was the FOBISIA leadership conference. All of our extended leadership team were involved in a variety of keynote speeches, round table discussions and various presentations. The focus of this year\u2019s conference was \u2018leading in an era of change\u2019. There will be much to come from these meetings that we will be able to use to support our own school and community. For the first time ever, the conference included sessions for school governors and we were fortunate to have a number of our governors take part.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Following the conference, I have spent much of this past week visiting a school in China going through their first accreditation with CIS (Council of International Schools). If you are new to KIS, CIS is a well-recognised and highly regarded global accreditation body for international schools and colleges. They require schools to meet rigorous standards across all areas of school life. External team members visit the school twice to ensure standards are being met and will meet with staff, students, parents, and board members to validate what the school is doing. Last year we were very successfully reaccredited. Team members are trained educators working in CIS accredited schools, so this past week was an opportunity to support a new school looking to be accredited. Being a visiting team member is not only collegiate but also gives an opportunity to meet and work with some excellent professional colleagues and visit schools that have some excellent practice and be able bring fresh ideas to our own schools for discussion.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Looking forward, in a week\u2019s time the extended leadership team for KIS will be spending a day with the KIS Board of Governors. This is an annual \u2018Blue Sky Day\u2019 (although we were unable to hold last years) where both groups meet to discuss various aspects of KIS to support strategic development and direction for the school.
