After Christmas I reported on Kon Han\u2019s teams\u2019 success in the preliminary rounds of the AEON Credit Purple League badminton tournament.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Last week saw the finals take place in Cyberjaya in Selangor with 12 teams from across Malaysia in attendance having earned a place in the qualifying rounds. After successfully winning both their quarter final and semi-final match ups, Kon Han\u2019s team Perling BC faced off against Butterworth BC.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The tournament included 5 different divisions: mixed doubles, boys and girls singles, boys doubles and the girls doubles which Kon Han was competing in. Due to be the last group to play in the final, Kon Han and her doubles partner were in a strong, but also stressful position as they only needed to win one set to secure the overall victory for Perling BC. The match finished a tie with both teams winning a set each but Perling Jaya were awarded the victory and subsequently overall title for the tournament.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to a glittery medal to add to her extensive collection, Kon Han was also able to pocket a small portion of the RM5000 prize money that was awarded to the champions and divided amongst all players. Well done Kon Han in being the only Sabah player representing at the tournament!<\/span><\/p>\n

FOBISIA Virtual Running Challenge<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I take it as a positive sign that perhaps as a community we are starting to look more to the future again and beginning to consider \u2018life after covid\u2019 in that parents have begun asking me when we will see a return to FOBISIA events and competitions. At the recent AGM for the FOBISIA Heads of PE, we discussed calendar dates for the Primary, U13 and U15 FOBISIA Friendly Games. With the U15 Games set down for late November 2022. It is hard to believe that our current Year 7 students are yet to have the opportunity to enjoy taking part in these fantastic experiences.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I had previously promoted the FOBISIA Virtual Swimming Championships with the hope that some of our swimmers training externally would be able to take part in this great opportunity to test their performances with other students around Asia. Sadly after further consultations with the organiser, we are not really equipped to enter this event.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

An alternative virtual event that is also an inclusive event open to ALL members of the KIS community whether they be students, staff or parents is the FOBISIA Virtual Running Challenge being coordinated by the British School of Manilla.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This event will take place between the 18th March and 1st April. For students there will be 3 Age Groups and Categories.<\/span><\/p>\n
