Everyone is super busy making the most of being back in school and filling each day with fantastic learning opportunities. We have such amazing students, many of whom are getting fully involved in so many different activities, inside and outside of school. Read on to find out more\u2026.<\/p>\n

This week the \u2018Spotlight is on\u2026.<\/p>\n

Year 5\u2019<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It is awesome to be back in school and Year 5 have settled quickly into their learning! This week has been exceptionally busy with story plans, problem solving and independent research! We have used our class novel for Stig of the Dump to inspire us to create a new chapter and we’re excited to start writing these next week! They have also begun work on an independent research project where we asked the Big Question: What are the similarities and differences between tribes in Sabah and internationally? We have been engrossed in making our own choices about the information we want to learn to answer this question and deciding how we will present our facts to teach others.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the words of some of our Year 5s, here’s what they think is great about this year already!<\/p>\n

” I like the independent project in Topic”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

“I think the Gold, Silver and Bronze challenges are fantastic because we can choose what challenges us in our learning.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

“In Maths we play fun games like FizzBuzz. Even though it’s hard for me, my teachers make me feel more confident.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

” I think Year 5 is great because I get challenged everyday!”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

“I like maths because we play different maths games.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Last week\u2019s fun weekly Dojo Challenge was to come up with a quote for KIS that will eventually go up on the wall outside my office. WWF WILD WISDOM CHALLENGE<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Recently some of our fabulous students took part in a challenge through WWF called the Wild Wisdom Challenge. These students took part in online quizzes, alongside secondary students and against other schools, and at the same time got to learn all about the science of sustainability. In order to win, they had to earn badges and points by competing in the online quizzes. They could also earn points by watching videos and reading more about the climate crisis.<\/p>\n

Friday saw our final celebrations for Movember with students \u2018dressing down\u2019 and wearing mustaches to raise awareness of men\u2019s physical and mental health. This was not a fundraising event, the cost was understanding! We wanted your children to understand why they were dressing in this way. We hope this will reinforce the knowledge that talking to someone about problems is vital!<\/p>\n
