[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Circus comes to KIS!<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

PE lessons this week in Primary have been filled with the sounds of laughter as students began their new Circus Skills unit and transformed into some of the silliest clowns imaginable and tried out some tricks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Students will be working on a range of different activities that will allow them to develop their hand-eye coordination such as juggling objects like scarves or balls. \u2018Tight rope\u2019 and \u2018stilt\u2019 walking will challenge students with their body balance and stability. While hula hooping and the use of poi will allow them to gain a better sense of movement and body awareness.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Even more than the physical skills, students will be working on their soft skills such as developing resiliency in trying new tasks and building self-confidence through the thrill of succeeding in learning something new.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Students have certainly enjoyed the opening lessons and we are looking forward to students building a collection of new skills in which they will be able to create their very own circus routines to perform!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

AIMS Virtual Olympics<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This initiative created by a number of schools in the AIMS network came to a close at the end of the half-term and I am pleased to announce that one student from KIS found himself on the leaderboard for the 16,17 and 18 year old boys \u2018Keepie Uppy\u2019 competition. Joseph in Year 13 finished on the podium in third place. Congratulations Joseph and well done to all students who gave it their best efforts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We look forward to more exciting opportunities for students to get involved in throughout the year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
