Assemblies have been taking place and are a great way for students to celebrate achievements and learn about others within their communities. Despite not being able to sit together in a hall, we can now interact with each other on our screens and become more aware of the different communities we are all a part of within our one KIS community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As parents and staff, you are all part of the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) and this community has a steering committee (PTASC). The PTASC had their first meeting of the year this past week and you can read what the PTASC is up to in this newsletter and also take part in their new initiative to support our vision for nurturing global citizens, and help get fitter at the same time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PTASC\u2019s focus on culture and sports is a timely one as this coincides with some of our development goals for this year to make classrooms and learning more adaptive to cultural awareness, and for students to have opportunities to relate their learning alongside their own cultural and language experiences. We will be creating opportunities for this throughout the year as we utilise these ideas and concepts more across the school.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Finally, you might be interested to know that we have become the first Cambridge University Admissions testing centre in East Malaysia and one of only three across Malaysia. Previously, students who wanted to study at Oxford or Cambridge University would have to travel to KL or Penang for initial admission assessments.
