[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Although it has been a short week, it has been another busy week in Primary. The children have now come to the end of their new Brainwave unit and have been busy learning about the brain and how special it is.\u00a0 The children have been involved in hands-on practical activities and group research and have loved learning how the brain works and what we need to do to look after it. They have discussed the importance of practice when learning a skill and how positive thinking can help us to succeed. This unit has been a great introduction to the process and journey of learning and is something that we will continue to develop throughout the year.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Once again, our Friday Zoom assembly focused on student leadership with the much anticipated announcement of the Year 6 House Captains and their deputies. A huge congratulations to all the Year 6 children who were brave enough to present to the rest of the school last week. The successful candidates are;<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]During this week\u2019s assembly we heard from the excellent Year 2 House Captain candidates who all did an excellent job of presenting their speeches to the rest of the school. No easy feat when you are six going on seven. The children spoke with confidence and along with the rest of the school are looking forward to finding out who the successful candidates are next week. Continuing with the theme of student leadership, next week each class will vote for a Student Council representative and again these will be announced by Mrs Mullen who leads the Student Council in next week\u2019s assembly.<\/p>\n

Next week parents will be able to sign up for the Term 1 Settling in Meetings with their class teacher. The meetings will take place week beginning 14th<\/sup> September and are an opportunity to discuss the first few weeks of the new academic year. As always, signup sheets can be found in the covered walkway as you enter school. When signing up please remember to follow our SOP by wearing a face mask and staying physically distanced from each other. Your children are welcome to attend these meetings too.<\/p>\n

As you are aware we have a rather lovely new Early Years centre which is proving to be a huge hit with our youngest children. They now have dedicated learning zones including a cooking area, sensory area, garden, mud kitchen and home corner. If you are having a sort out at home we would appreciate donations of unwanted household items for the home corner. Pots, pans, jugs, broken but safe electrical items and soft furnishings would all be gratefully received.<\/p>\n
