[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Members of the charity, Sharity of Hope, were contacted by the Education Ministry during the MCO to assist in seeking funds to build study huts up on the hills for the 55 primary students of SK Linungkuan as the school and homes do not have internet connectivity down at the valley.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SK Linungkuan is situated about 54km from Kota Kinabalu, with 55 students and 12 teaching staff. Sharity led by Mdm Audrey Koh Wiles and Mdm Shirley Yu managed to source funds for the materials to build six sturdy study huts in designated areas with good internet reception.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With thanks for the help of Rotary Club of Likas Bay in sourcing for bags, stationeries and hygiene products for the students, as well as Kinabalu International School for the lovely library books. The books and stationary were handed over in conjunction with the Study Huts handing over ceremony on the 19th<\/sup> August 2020 at the school compound.<\/p>\n

SK Linungkuan wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Kinabalu International School for their generous book donations. The librarian and English teacher are looking forward to making full use of the books for their library.<\/p>\n

Ms Yap is an architect by profession who is passionate about upcycling, design and empowering communities through various skills transfer programmes she has carried out with BEST Society.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We worked with a local fabric manufacturer, Kain Chanteek by Chanteek Borneo<\/a> to design fabrics inspired by KIS mission statement which\u00a0 incorporates Borneo\/ Oriental motifs and handed them over to MUKEST Society a couple of weeks ago for sample production.\u00a0 MUKEST, Mukim Ulu Kiulu Ecotourism Solutions and Technologies Society is a community-based organisation that was set up by BEST Society and funded by\u00a0Borneo Eco Tours<\/a>. Comprising of 13 villages throughout the Kiulu Valley, the organisation serves as a platform to boost economic growth and improve livelihoods of local people. Through MUKEST, BEST Society hopes to continue promoting skills development, motivating members to create alternative income-generating opportunities as well as providing leadership training and encouraging women\u2019s participation among others.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We were pleased to receive the samples from Ms Yap yesterday and would like to carry out a survey of interest before we order them in bulk.<\/p>\n
