[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]I have spent a few of my lunchtime\u2019s playing cards with Mr Fletcher this week. Not because either of us enjoy a game of Snap, Patience, Rummy or Black Jack but because Mr Fletcher has been trying to teach me his card tricks for Maths Day! Maths Day will take place on Friday 13th<\/sup> March and the children will have the opportunity to take part in a number of fun mathematical challenges and activities. One challenge includes mastering a mathematical trick, performing it to the rest of the class (and even the whole of Primary for the winning performances) and explaining the mathematical reasoning behind the trick. Quite a challenge considering my overall dreadful attempts this week. More details will be posted on your year group Dojo page together with a You Tube video of how to perform the trick. It\u2019s been a busy week for Mr Fletcher and the Year 3 team who went off on their one night residential on Thursday morning to Suok Maang Family Activity Centre. For many children this was their first experience of being away from home and they coped brilliantly. Their resilience and team work really paid off and they enjoyed an action packed trip. Look out for a report from the children next week.<\/p>\n

BEWARE! The naughty penguin is still on the loose! You may remember that a few weeks ago I wrote about the escaped penguin that the Year 1 children have been keeping an eye out for. This week the children decided to step up the hunt and placed a number of penguin traps around school. I currently have one in my office, which contains fake ice and fish, in the hope that the naughty penguin will fall for the bait and make an appearance.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Head of Primary<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Year 6 Residential Trip to Penang” google_fonts=”font_family:Rubik%20One%3A400|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Year 6 Residential to Penang was truly a wonderful experience of camaraderie, friendship, learning and new experiences for all. With a superb group of 23 students and 4 teachers in tow, we spent five action packed days exploring the War Museum and learning about the Japanese occupation during WW2; sweating and panting up the National Park trails,\u00a0 to be rewarded with fun play on Money Beach; an evening street art hunt; way too much fun at ESCAPE Adventure Park shrieking with excitement on all the rides. There really were too many highlights to include, but this is what we have to say:<\/p>\n

\u2018The funniest part was when Thilal forgot his passcode to his suitcase!\u2019\u00a0 Ian.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2018The best part was that I rode the 1111m slide. It took about 4 minutes to reach the bottom!\u2019 Thilal.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2018I learned about the war and that there were escape routes for bunkers in WW2.\u2019 Ada.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\u2018The funniest part was street art, We talked about funny things and saw funny street art.\u2019 Jay.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2018I learned that a cannon was disguised as a boulder while they were getting attacked so the enemies wouldn\u2019t be able to see them.\u2019 Dragon<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2018I learned that the British recruited locals and people from Punjab to fight the war.\u2019 Sharan.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2018I learned that the Japanese rode bicycles through Penang.\u2019 Sophie.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2018I will always remember getting chased by a monkey and winning an accidental strike!\u2019 Kiera.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI learned that in Penang, you don\u2019t die of hunger, but of eating too much!\u2019 Ting Xiang.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\u2018I learned you must take your candy with you everywhere.\u2019 Marco.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2018I learned how soldiers can move through tight spaces.\u2019 Jayden<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>The children who did not attend the trip worked on a project together at school and had\u00a0 just as much fun!<\/p>\n

\u2018The best part of the week for me was when we did the stop motion. It was so much fun but we also needed to have a lot of patience. We got to build Lego and stuff for the movie we were making. But it took us about three days to make it so it was quite a lot of work.\u2019 Ayman.<\/em><\/p>\n
