Following student concerns regarding the condition of the stray dogs around the school\u2019s environment, we also support the Borneo Animal Welfare Society, Sabah (BAWSS), which is a non-profit organization funded through charitable means.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main objective of BAWSS is to advocate for the welfare of animals, specifically cats and dogs, in Borneo. To help control the stray dog and cat population in Kota Kinabalu, they trap, neuter and return dogs and cats to the areas where they were found. Neutered animals are less likely to engage in aggressive activity associated with \u201cmating seasons\u201d and are also likely to maintain a better physical condition than non-neutered animals as a result.\u00a0 BAWSS also supports the rehabilitation, fostering and adoption of strays.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-12478 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kis.edu.my\/kisnewsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/BAWS-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"224\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kis.edu.my\/kisnewsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/BAWS-2.jpg 603w, https:\/\/www.kis.edu.my\/kisnewsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/BAWS-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.kis.edu.my\/kisnewsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/BAWS-2-255x170.jpg 255w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In partnership with BAWSS, KIS hope to develop a long-term solution to the ongoing problem of sick\/injured stray dogs around our school, improve the welfare of these animals generally and prevent\/minimize any increase in their numbers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To support the future work of BAWSS in Kota Kinabalu, KIS will hold stalls at our school fairs, to raise awareness and fundraise for the charity. Please look out for our stall on the 28<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> March, during the School Fun Day.
