The second half of this term is well underway and the learning experiences available for our students are continuing as usual. A successful beach clean took place last week with the Eco Warriors collecting over 100Kg of rubbish. I also enjoyed a very productive eco-schools\u2019 committee with students, staff and parents. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend these events, we are well on the way to receiving our bronze award as an Eco School.<\/p>\n

This week, parents from Year 11 and many of our Primary parents have been meeting their children\u2019s teachers to understand how their children are progressing and what they can do to support their learning. Year 3 had an excellent extended assembly which was well attended by families to see what they had learnt about the ancient Egyptians. Our youngest students in EYFS had a wonderful treat as they were visited by Borneo Reptiles and had a very exciting morning (as did some of our staff).<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Regarding our community health and safety, yesterday we sent an update for Covid-19 (coronavirus), please check your emails. Just before the CNY there was news of the polio virus within Sabah. Working with the Ministry of Health, our School Nurse is arranging for the opportunity for health officials to come to school and provide the oral vaccine. When we have further details we will let you know dates and send out permission forms.\u00a0 As for safety, we conducted our evacuation and lock down procedures over these past few days so that all staff and students are familiar with what to do in an emergency.<\/p>\n

Yesterday our Bronze Award Duke of Edinburgh students set off with Mrs Dyer, Mrs Mullan, Mr and Mrs Colbeck in support, to complete their adventurous journey, no doubt they will be returning later today quite exhausted from their travels. Well done to all of them for taking part. This morning, many other students are involved in football and basketball matches here at school as the FOBISIA teams prepare for their forthcoming competitions by playing against other teams from KIS and also the Indonesian School. Go Vipers!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Next week we welcome members of our Board of Governors on a visit around school to see what we are doing and to help develop understanding across the school. This is an excellent opportunity as many will remain in school for the afternoon as the CIS Self-Study continues with various meetings to review the CIS standards and how well we are meeting them. Remember, the CIS Community Survey will be coming soon. Watch this space.<\/p>\n
