[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This week and next our Year 11 students have been sitting their mock examinations. As well as being a great opportunity for exam technique practice, the papers give the students and teachers insights into the topics, or parts of topics, that need extra revision or practice before the actual exams in May\/June. Our students do take the exams very seriously and they are well supervised by Mr Barker, Mr Lim, and the staff team of invigilators. Moving forward we will be issuing mock reports to parents, followed by a parent\/teacher\/student afternoon.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>On Wednesday afternoon a very tired team of Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award students were delivered back to school after completing their Adventurous Journey. Accompanied by Mr and Mrs Colbeck they battled bravely through heavy rain and tough terrain and all came through successfully [including the teachers\u2026.]. I have to say I have never seen a group of DoE students looking so exhausted! The DoE Award is very popular here at KIS at Bronze, Silver and Gold standard and it thrives largely due to the huge efforts of the teacher team, led by the indomitable Miss McNutt. You will undoubtedly hear more about the adventurous journey in a future newsletter.<\/p>\n

Year 9 Parents will have received a letter giving some information about the parent\/teacher meetings. These are happening next Thursday and the students are currently making appointments for meetings. We hope to see many Year 9 parents there.<\/p>\n

The Year 12 Psychology class welcomed our school counsellor, Ms Siti, to our class on Friday 10th January. She told us about her role as school counsellor and how she helps KIS students with social skills and behaviour. Furthermore, Ms Siti shared her career path with us, from Diploma to Doctorate and was very encouraging of career ideas that students had. They completed a RIASEC test, the results of which can point a person towards a career path. This session was so valuable to our first class of psychology students who will work on university applications later in the year.<\/p>\n
