nd<\/sup> January and everyone is invited to dress in Chinese style clothing for the day.<\/p>\nThank you for your patience and understanding as we screened for HFMD this week, I am pleased to say we have had no reported cases. The timing of this was also quite appropriate as we have received advice from the Ministry of Health for managing influenza infection. As you will be aware there are many cases being reported in the news and social media. If you or your child have flu-like symptoms please do seek medical advice from a doctor and do not come in to school, but please inform us through email or telephone.<\/p>\n
At the start of this week we welcomed three new members of staff who will be with us for the remainder of the school year. Mr Robert Graham joins us from Australia to teach English in the Secondary School, Mr Jamie Bevan has come from the UK to teach Maths (also in Secondary), and Mr Sam Murison is supporting the Art, Music and Drama departments. Mrs Renshaw sent a letter home at the end of last term explaining the classes they will be teaching. Also on the theme of staff news, Ms Karen Wallace (Head of KS2) will now be using her maiden name which is Ms Karen Hitchen.<\/p>\n
Just a couple of days into the new term and we already have a group of Primary children flying off to KL to take part in the AIMS Math Challenge. You can read more in the Primary section. ECAs begin next week, and so do the mock examinations for our older students, we wish them all well. DofE has a gold expedition this weekend and many of our students are at the SAGs swimming competition at Likas. We wish all of them a successful weekend.<\/p>\n
Over the past couple of years we have managed to collect a vast assortment of lost property, where possible when names are evident, we have managed to reunite the property with their owners. However, I have a box in my office that contains numerous watches, sunglasses, swim goggles, pencil cases and reading glasses. I will keep these until the end of this term and anything not collected will be given to charity.<\/p>\n
Couple of reminders as we start the new term, Parents using Pass Club, please note that if you are late to school for pick-up and your child is in Pass Club as a result, you will be charged after the first 15 minutes. Secondly, we should now be seeing students wearing items with the new school logo (except for hats); the time has passed to retire the old logo. If you don\u2019t wish to purchase items with the new logo yet we have available logo patches that can be sewn over or to swap the old logo and these can be purchased from the school shop.<\/p>\n
Finally, last term you will remember that we had a visit from CIS as part of our re-accreditation. The next step in this journey is to complete the CIS Community Survey. We will be sending further information prior to the survey and we hope to get as many of our community involved as possible. This is a great opportunity for you to help shape the future developments and improvements of KIS. The survey is the first part of a larger self-study that we will be completing over the next two terms. If you want further information please do pop in and ask.<\/p>\n
