[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The penultimate week or this term started as it finished with fun and festive preparations. As I have been into classrooms this week, it has been lovely to see and hear the children getting excited and rehearsing for the Singalongs next week. Our Year 1 children have been especially busy as they are also preparing for their extended assembly which will be held next Wednesday afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the Year 4 children enjoyed the challenges of their Spartan Day and drew on their resilience and determination to complete the various challenges that they had to endure throughout the day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Thursday, the Year 3 children visited the Tao Art Centre where they made Egyptian canopic jars from pottery. They are waiting for their designs to be dried in the clay oven and they will be returned to school after the break. The Year 6 children were also busy in the Secondary science labs on Thursday and I was very happy to join them. After a bit of a squeamish start the children soon got to grips with dissecting a cow\u2019s heart. Guided by Ms Tooley and some of the Year 11 secondary students, they soon became more confident in handling the heart and it was a fantastic opportunity for the children to consolidate their learning.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Friday we held our last celebration assembly of this term and presented a number of certificates to many of the Primary children. A very well done to our young sports men and women, our FOBISIA Maths participants, our Stars of the Week, our Dojo challenge champions, our house point certificate winners and to all in Sulug who were crowned the Term 1 overall champions. Between all three houses the children accumulated a total of almost 15,000 Dojo points! We were entertained by the Primary Choir, who performed at Le Meridian earlier on in the week and will be performing again next Wednesday at the Hyatt. As a Primary school we had the opportunity to bid farewell to the children who are sadly leaving us and wished them all the best for their next adventure at their new schools.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite a damp start, we were very lucky to enjoy the PTA Christmas lunch on Friday with many children and staff enjoying roast chicken or veggie Lasagne. There was a great atmosphere on the playground as Christmas songs played and we took the time to enjoy each other\u2019s company.<\/span><\/p>\n

Head of Primary<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator border_width=”2″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Year 4 Ancient Civilisations Day” google_fonts=”font_family:Rubik%20One%3A400|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_column_text]\"\"<\/a>The rain threatened to ruin our morning plans but nothing was going to stop these KIS warriors.
\nAfter a muddy hike, we met our trainer, Ian who worked us hard for over an hour! We then hiked to the top of Bukit Padang which was exhausting but really satisfying!<\/p>\n

A tired and very hungry army of children then marched their way back to school where an epic ancient grain feast awaited them. Thank you to all who helped out with this – absolutely delicious.<\/p>\n

We then watched Dora the Explorer go on an Incan adventure in The Lost City of Gold.<\/p>\n

Finally, the Mayan Escape Room proved to be as challenging as we hoped it would be! It was dark, a little bit scary and great fun.<\/p>\n
