As a parent owned not for profit association, it is essential that parents attend this meeting. The purpose of the meeting is twofold: firstly, to hear from serving Board Members as they report on the past year and secondly, to elect new Board Members for the coming year. For the meeting to proceed we need a quorum of 119 parents, so it is vital as many people as possible attend this important event.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Request for Board of Management Nominations<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a not-for-profit school the Board of Management plays a crucial role in working closely with myself and the School Leadership Team in guiding the school&#8217;s ongoing development. We have positions on the Board to be filled at the AGM next Thursday and we encourage any parents interested to put their name forward for nomination.\u00a0 Please contact Elis Ho by email <\/span><a href=\"mailto:officemanager@kis.edu.my\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">officemanager@kis.edu.my<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for further information on the process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dear KIS Community,<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Welcome back to a very successful and tired Vipers team from the U15 FOBISIA Games. A great effort from all and a huge thank you to Ms Watt, Mr Watson and Mr Baxter for supporting them so much. As the U15s return this weekend, we have others leaving for another Duke of Edinburgh journey, this time for the silver award, we wish them well on their trip.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The school has now received feedback from the recent CIS visit and I am delighted to say that we have been commended for our efforts and have been successful in progressing to the next stage. The re-accreditation visit will take place in the last school week of March 2021 prior to the Easter holiday. We have much to prepare as we start our whole school community self-study prior to the visit. We will discuss further with our KIS community what this involves, including a community survey that will be used to drive our self-study and improvements. Your contribution is very much needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we look to the future, I wish to thank Datin Azean for all the hard work and commitment she has given over the past few years to KIS through the Healthy Heart Canteen. Whilst we congratulate Datin Azean on the recent birth of her new baby, unfortunately for us and for personal reasons, she will not be renewing the contract with KIS from the end of this academic year. We are therefore looking for a suitable replacement. We are preparing the tender for the contract and will be publishing shortly, in the meantime if you or anyone you know may be interested, please do contact me, <\/span><a href=\"mailto:principa@kis.edu.my\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">principal@kis.edu.my<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> .<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In another part of the school\u2019s development, I am also looking for your support, we are planning a language centre to support new students (and parents) with their English language, this is quite separate from our EAL support we currently have. We are looking for a qualified and suitable English language teacher who would be able to run this new and exciting programme. If anyone is interested or knows of anyone, please contact me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next week, we our celebrating Global Goals Day on Wednesday, Thursday is the AGM at 8am, Friday is the Primary Sports Day at Penampang and Secondary have their A Level Options Afternoon followed by 4Fest in the evening; please do get involved where you can. Finally, before I leave you, well done to Mr Bryant and the Year 8 and Year 11 Drama students for such wonderful performances this week.
