This week we thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Deepavali in school. The collection of up-cycled CDs looked beautiful and the\u00a0<\/span>children\u2019s artistic efforts were very impressive. Thank you to the PTA for the delicious lunchtime ice-cream in celebration of the event. A big well done to our three Year 5 students (Amy, Jaxon and Kelvin) who represented the school and did a great job of explaining the significance and importance of Deepavali and the upcycling project.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\"\"<\/a>On Thursday and Friday of this week I was lucky enough to attend the 51<\/span>st<\/span> EARCOS (East Asia Regional Council of Schools) conference at Sutera Harbour. There were over 1200 delegates and we began the conference in a very unusual way by making ducks from seven pieces of Lego. Some might say that it was a quackers way to begin such a prestigious conference!\u00a0 Inevitably, our designs were varied and different which purposely highlighted the fact that as learners we are all varied and different and have unique learning needs and styles and this was a theme that ran through the three days of professional learning. The conference was an excellent opportunity to further my professional development and I look forward to getting back to school on Monday and sharing my learning with colleagues.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, I was not at school for Scary School Day but I understand that it was a great success and enjoyed by the children and staff with some really giving it their all in the dressing up department. As the start to their transition programme to secondary, Year 6 children were invited to the secondary spooky evening which proved that the secondary students aren\u2019t so scary after all.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Next week, I would like to invite Reception, F1 and F2 Parents into school to attend an Early Years workshop at 8am in the MPR. This is an opportunity to find out more about Development Matters which is the UK curriculum used in Early Years at KIS.\u00a0 Parents will be able to ask questions and gain a better understanding of their child\u2019s learning journey.<\/span><\/p>\n
