Dear KIS Community,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Council of International Schools (CIS) is a long standing and globally well recognised school support and accreditation agency. We have been accredited by CIS for the past ten years nearly and as we approach the end of this time we need to prepare for a new review to gain re-accreditation. Next week we have two visitors, Mr John Todd and Dr Eric Jabal, representing CIS for a Pre-Accreditation visit. They will spend much of the week meeting staff, students, parents and board members as well as visiting many lessons across the school. Their purpose is not to re-accredit us but to gauge how ready we are for the full re-accreditation visit.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We take the accreditation process very seriously and we see it as an opportunity for working with \u2018critical friends\u2019 who can come into school with fresh eyes and have discussions with us about what we are doing well, what we are developing, what we are planning to do and what we could be thinking about. A few weeks after the visit we will be informed of the outcome with regards to when the full visit will be which is usually a year and half to two years after this visit. This length of time is needed to prepare our full self-study where we review all areas of the school as a community in preparation of re-accreditation. This weekend if you are free this morning, come along to school and support are U15 basketball players as they compete against teams from St Francis and Jesselton International School. Go Vipers! Please note that St Francis Primary School is having their family day at the same time and parking may be busier than usual.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On Monday we will be inviting all members of our community to wear pink to highlight awareness of breast cancer; staff, students and parents are welcome to make donations and we will be asking the student council to select an appropriate and related charity organisation to donate to.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Some of you may have noticed that we have closed the primary staircase next to the Early Years entrance. During recent storms and despite repair attempts, a small part of the roofing became loose. As a matter of precaution until we can arrange for external contractors to do a thorough repair we obviously don\u2019t want members of our community to feel at risk which is why we closed the stairs until such time that we can re-open them. Thank you for your understanding and patience.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Finally, don’t forget to decorate some CD’s and bring back for our Deepavali celebrations. Also, please check your emails for letters about the Walk for Freedom on October 19<\/span>th<\/span>. The second email sent yesterday contains the sponsor form.<\/span><\/p>\n
